Hi there Saw a band play the other night in Eamonn Dorans called Page27 and was wondering if any of you guys heard of them before because I thought they were absolutely fantastic and I'd love to get some info on the band. They're a three-piece and they play Radiohead kinda style. Cheers! Bamboo

So what if he is. The amount of self hyping that goes on on this message board is phenomenal. The things and their crew of shams are at it all the time. So if it is your band Bamboo don't be ashamed of it. It's par for the course around these parts.

Self-hyping? Yes it is - alas - occasionally par for the course on this (and other) music discussion boards. But, more often than not, you can tell them a mile off. They are embarrassingly obvious sometimes. Just steer clear of them then and don't encourage them by replying, etc. I'll probably have to sit back and come up with some big convoluted discussion board policy on how we'll deal with them. But don't hold your breath. I've no problem with bands attempting to promote themselves as long as they don't keep spamming the message board, but it would be nice if they did it with a little honesty. It takes a lot of humility and guts to say "listen, I'm from and if you were there we'd really like your honest opinion on our gig last night" but I'd have a lot more respect for that approach.

It's par for the course around these parts. what do u mean by that! i think you should really get your facts right. i dont know a single member of the things in person but i think they are a brilliant band and that goes for a lot of people i know! just because people say good things about a band on this message board or say that they enjoyed a gig doesn't automatically mean that they are bosom buddies. some dublin bands actually do have people that they don't know admire them believe it or not!
