Didn't Republic of Loose get an award too? Is there danger of credible local acts getting recognition at this farce?

Republic of Loose got best hope for 2004 The Meteor awards organisers must have felt that now that its in is 3rd year, that the awards have a safe future...hence they didnt need to give bono or U2 an award

Yeah your right, Future Kings of Spain also picked up an award for best new Irish Band ... or something. I had to laugh at West Lifes attempt to mime over their latest heap of s**t - like a bad 70's kung fu movie.

Yes, it was kinda refreshing alright. No awards for U2 or The Corrs etc. But what was yer man from the Frames getting at exactly when he said it was their 1st ever award, surely he wasn't complaining?? The usual line from bands is that it's about the music and the fans man. Probably had one too many shandies and got a bit emotional.

I watched the awards last nigth and it was the most embarrasing croc of horse s**t i have ever seen..besides damo and republic of loose.. the only band that are actually worth recongising are the thrills and they weren't even there..fair play. And every performance was s**t..counting crows and picturehouse..middle aged malletheads.. And the most irritating thing off it all was the presenter..He gets to me on a hole new level..I hope he (exact wish deleted by moderator due to extreme violent nature of comment, CLUAS is a family show after all), proper piss artist.. But besides all that it was good to see the loose on a big screen..but i was really hopin mick would be gargled.but f**k it at least they looked like a proper rocknroll band.. not like paddys caseys band fresh out of waltons school of music....c**ts

duncan your a poet and a prophet. i dont know what u said that you would like to do to dara o brian but as smokey robinson said i second that emotion. hes a serious grueller. i thought mik pyro looked f**kin cool on telly that was the highlight..that and the fact that they didnt edit it out when he said fair bollix . i went to those awards last year..jim corr was nominated for best irish musician. need i say more
