When did giving someone a mix cd become illegal? Never heard of that. I think most of the bands whose music would be shared would be stoked to have their audience broadened a bit, and that's my only intention.

I believe theres no problem trading mix CDs with your friends thanks to the US home taping act of 1992, however trading across the internet on a larger scale using a bulletin board is a grey area. Also remember that most users here are located in Ireland and EU law differs slightly from US law so Eoghan is right to be cautious.

Hmm, ok, don't want to cause any problems! If it makes anyone feel better, I'm friends or acquainted with or 8 out of the 14 bands on that last mix, and none of them are going to care. I can easily put together a mix of bands I know personally that would be stoked to know I'm sending their music across the water. :)

Big Black, good Lord! I bought Atomizer and Songs About F**king when I was 16; they're probably the most disturbing albums I've ever heard. I dug out Songs... the other month and put it on: it still scared the sh*t out of me.

Hmm, well aparently you've never heard Einsturzende Neubauten or Psychic TV? :) Big Black are the perfect teen years band. I still love them.

I've never thought of Big Black as scary, but since you mention it, I can see how you could. Have you heard Steve Albini's later band, Rapemen? I never have, been curious about what they're like.
