Lady Gaga only received two American Music Awards nominations this year. Should her fans be demanding a recount? Eminem and country newcomers Lady Antebellum received five nominations each, earning them the most noms for the ceremony taking place in November. http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/hiphopmediatraining__7/hiphopmediatraining-702819395-1286915838.jpg?ym_rl6DDOr_YdsowJustin Bieber, who Gaga battles for the most online video plays, is up for four awards. Usher, B.o.B., and fellow pop divas Ke$ha and Katy Perry are each in the running for three trophies. At the other awards shows this year, Gaga took home two Grammys, a Teen Choice award, eight MTV Video Music Awards, and even a BET Award. Is she being snubbed by the AMAs again? Last year she was up for three honors and went home empty handed. It appears that Lady Gaga has been recognized in the categories most befitting of the "Bad Romance" singer. In the pop or rock music field, she is being considered for favorite female artist. She's not a male artist, band, duo or group, and her last album, "The Fame" was nominated last year. (Nominated artists and works must have been released between December 1, 2009 and September 1 2010 in order to be eligible for this year's awards.) Lady Gaga's music is not country, rap/hip-hop, soul/rhythm & blues music, alternative rock music, adult contemporary music, Latin music, or appears on a soundtrack. So exclusions from those areas make sense. Though I bet her little monster followers could debate whether or not her music could fit in the contemporary inspirational section. Gaga does compete with Bieber, Eminem, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry for the event's most prestigious artist of the year award. Unlike Gaga, Lady Antebellum and Eminem scored big nominations because their music fits in multiple genre-specific categories. Eminem is up for favorite male artist and favorite album in both the pop or rock music and rap/hip-hop music fields. Lady Antebellum could take home the favorite band, duo or group title in the pop and rock music and country music sections. Plus, they have an adult contemporary music nod for favorite artist. When you actually do the math, Gaga's AMA results are positive. The AMAs will air Sunday, November 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Fans can vote for winners online via the American Music Awards site.
