The Workman's Club plays host to Clockwork Apple on Friday 17th September as Zealots, Fred & Bob and Candy In My Heels get set to bring a splash of attitude to Dublin’s hippest new stage.
Headliners Zealots released their debut EP "Flowers For my Broken Head" in 2009, with tracks "Chalk Outlines" and "The Glitch" show casing their dark multi layered sound to perfection. The release led to national radio airplay, a feature session on 2Fm with Dan Hegarty, headline slots in both Twisted Pepper and Whelans earlier this year and now an upcoming live show September 9th for MUZU.TV. Zealots thumping rhythms, pulsating synth lines and whomp from distorted guitar mesh effortlessly when topped off by Ruth Kennington’s vocals, a singer who brings genuine passion and grit to every performance.
Support comes from Fred & Bob - described by Hotpress as “a nastier sounding Blondie”, the energetic and gutsy four-piece released the punky, fuzzy indie-pop EP “On a Good Day” in May this year with recommendations from Heineken Music amongst others. Candy In My Heels who cite acts such as Metric and Little Boots as influences round off the night’s line-up. Fresh out of the studio, and with the new material winging its way for mastering they are sure to want to shake off any cobwebs and kick off the proceedings in style.
