For the past 25 years Boy George has been at the forefront of an
ever-changing multi-faceted entertainment business. He has created a
global presence, an instantly recognizable ‘Boy George’ brand.
Whatever
he turns his talent to, from the millions of records he sold as a
performer and songwriter with Culture Club and as a solo artist, to
over ten years as one of the world’s most successful and in-demand
International DJ’s, or as the author of two best-selling
autobiographies, as the co-producer, songwriter and on-stage star of
the award-Winning musical ‘Taboo’ on both London’s West End and
Broadway in New York, as an elite member of the worlds designer fashion
hierarchy and as an inspirational and iconic figure for the over two
decades of street-style, or as the creator of his own B-Rude Fashion
Label in New York, Los Angeles and London: whatever, whenever and
wherever, George has made his mark with an enduring, hugely respected,
and resonant series of achievements.
Recent years has seen
George in some difficulty. On 16 January 2009, he was sentenced to 15
months' imprisonment for assault. On 11 May 2009, he was released after
serving four months of his fifteen-month custodial sentence. He was
released on home detention curfew and was required to wear an ankle
monitor for 90 days.
Whoever, George has come back fighting,
with both his DJ and live plans for 2010. He has stepped forward onto a
new decade with a fresh and somewhat steadfast vitality to a multitude
of exciting projects. Currently halfway through a tour of the UK,
George is once again charming club crowds.
Having made recent
appearances on shows such as “Friday Night with Jonathan Ross’ and Alan
Carr’s Chatty Man, the spotlight that has often fallen too much on
George’s iconic media statues is now firmly fixed on his musical
output. An exciting position for one of the dance scenes most
charismatic figures as he builds up to a new world tour, which will see
him performing at TIME:
