Press Release: Having just signed a publishing deal with Big Life Music (Snow Patrol, The Verve, Badly Drawn Boy…), John Shelly and the Creatures new single "Long May You Reign" to be released on 30th March 2009, is featured in the new NI Tourist Board TV, Radio and Cinema Advert Campaign that started on 9th February 2009. This will be a very extensive campaign covering a very wide audience both in the Republic of Ireland and the UK. It will be featured on RTE, TV3, UTV, Channel 4, E4, MTV, Sky One, Sky Sports, Sky News and Setanta and throughout Cinemas and on Radio Nationwide. Biog: The band formed in February 2007 and soon after released their first EP " Big Day Out". Following this and a large number of live dates the band released their first single "Angeline" to much critical acclaim. The track racked up numerous plays on BBC Radio 1 and also the BBC Radio Ulster "Across the Line" show, U105fm and Phantom Fm in Dublin. The band consists of four full time members two of which hail from Dublin and two from the North of Ireland. The band have most recently been recording their new single "Long May you Reign" in Windmill Lane recording studio in Dublin. They are influenced by a wide variety of genres and are not afraid to mix things up when it comes to recording and playing live. With comparisons being made from the likes of The Band to Low and even at times The Killers, it would be nearly impossible to sum up John Shelly and the Creatures into just one sound. read about JS and the Creatures in the Irish News a couple of weeks ago, checked out myspace..'long may you reign' is a blinding tune. Hopefully get to one of the upcoming Belfast shows. closing date for Glasgowbury applications was last week I think, hope you're in and successful! All the best PQ

For technical reasons I watched the video without sound so I can't comment on the music. But the film freaked me out!! [voiceover] "In a world of danger and terror, John and Mary's idyllic existance is about to be cruelly shattered..." [montage of scenes from film, in order] - Mary set alight as a witch - John shat on (in the eye, like 28 Days Later) in cave by infected bat; syphilictic infection spreads to brain - Encounter with strange spaceman - John rides/picnics with Mary in fairy fort. Bad move. Curse now follows them. - Frenzied attack by seal and sea creatures - Strange orb appears, radiates malevolent black energy that unleashes suppressed violence - John loses shoes, must walk barefoot over sharp rocks (probably to summon help for Mary trapped down a well, thrown down there by John) - Frenzied attack by dog carrying grenade in mouth - Mary horribly scarred and maimed in side-on car smash with John - Mary wreaks terrible revenge, drowns John in pool as he thrashes frantically for life. - John's grave, a Celtic cross to placate the pagan forces they unleashed - The sun goes down on John and Mary. FOREVER. [voiceover: Northern Ireland - it WILL be like this all the time!]
