A Futurist Theatre are more than sufficiently pleased to announce that Eamonn Doran's have agreed to host the December launch of Futurism. Each month, Futurism will showcase an artist from the extreme/unusual/just-plain-weird end of the faded artistic spectrum. Proponents of grime, hip-hop, Prog (the capital "P" is important) rock, astonishing pop, techno, dub reggae and anything that hasn't been tried before are all welcome.

For the inaugural gig, we're very happy to introduce esoteric sounds of The Kybosh. After building their profile over the last couple of years with a string of powerful performances, a top single (The Flood) and TV appearances, The Kybosh have released their debut album. Loosely based on Dante's Inferno (never let it be said that pop music isn't educational), the album is a whirlpool of dark, melodic tunes that burrow into your skull and fortify their positions with each listen. Scott Walker (a Futurism favourite) is a definite reference point which makes our hearts smile even more. The Kybosh's original take on a tired genre is sure to grant them a memorable future.

Support on the night comes from the hosts, A Futurist Theatre. We would take the opportunity here to say that we've been gigging, writing and recording as if our lives depended on it and that we're counting the days until the first night, but all of that should be obvious anyway and it would really be insulting your intelligence to remind you. In fact, I would recommend that you stop reading this paragraph right now and skip to the science paragraph below. Concentrate!

After the bands have finished, Futurism DJs will seize control of the stage faster than the Israeli army occupied the Golan Heights during the Six Day War, where they will play a selection of works some, none or all of which might be Refused, Public Enemy, Menshuggah, McCarthy, David Bowie, Scott Walker, Ladytron, Manic Street Preachers, At The Drive-In, Dizzee Rascal, Explosions In The Sky, Stevie Wonder, XTC, Guns 'n' Roses, Pink Floyd, Bond themes (important, those), New Order and so forth.

So if you've already written your suicide note in the wake of the current financial crisis, why not keep your spirits up by visiting Doran's on December 17th, where all long neck bottles and vodka splash are €4. Futurism will cheer you up, guaranteed*
