Playing on numerous recordings including ‘Ain't it Funky Now', 'The Payback', 'Mother Popcorn' and 'Get on the Good Foot’, in 1974, he decided to go solo and released the highly lauded Sweet Charles For Sweet People album on Mr. Brown’s People Records. After completing this project Sweets was asked back to lead James Brown's band for almost 25years.
