Hola freaks & freakettes!! Next Saturday sees London based Ozzy band , The Kits, make their debut performance in Dublin. They've just released their first album on Dirty Water Records (www.dirtywaterrecords.co.uk) - be sure to check this show out. Read below for album & live reviews Support on the night comes from The Urges Later Rosco www.myspace.com/thekits After several years playing the Melbourne circuit, touring interstate, replacing members and garnering a small but loyal fan base, brothers Kit and Jay packed their bags for the neon glow of North East London. After recruiting a new guitarist and bass player, they played all the back rooms, cellars and dank holes that the UK's capital could throw at them. But the hard work has paid off, firstly with a record deal with hip London label Dirty Water Records, and now with the release of their debut album, Primitive Tales. Make no mistake; The Kits are a rock'n'roll band. From the opening snare roll of the title track, Primitive Tales doesn't let up over the course of the 11 songs on offer. This is a robust collection of raucous barroom tunes, performed by a band confident with their delivery and clearly in love with what they're doing. Partly recorded at the famed Toe Rag Studios (White Stripes' Elephant), theire is no studio trickery here. Instead you get the warm sounds of a live band being captured in their finest analogue glory. This is the way that great rock'n'roll albums should sound. Stylistically, the album covers everything from the early punk roots of The Saints, to The Stooges-esque rock riffs, and even to the swagger and swing of The Velvet Underground, all delivered within a tight, economic package that could easily soundtrack any alcohol drenched good time. So while The Strokes decide what they're going to do next, and the Kings of Leon disappear into U2's stadium shoes, check out The Kits debut album to hear an honest rock'n'roll record. Because this is the sound of the Cherry Bar heyday, this is what you want to hear at Pony at 3am, and this is certainly the band you want flying the Australian garage rock flag for you in the UK. -Symon JJ Rock, Inpress Magazine "It's the real deal people. Not shiny or big budget, the two tracks on the single smack of authenticity, reminding of The Saints and The Chob. With a reputation for raucous live performances, it's no surprise that the band are drawing Black Lips comparisons too. " -Dave Taylor, Artrocker Magazine "London based Aussie garage-rockers The Kits set the tone in style, the snarled delivery of their ragged ramalama harking back to the days when rock 'n' roll was considered a threat to the morals of the world's youth.
