CPR in association with The Electric Fix and Drunken Lust Records present (The) LPX, Brian Cullen's Love Bullets and The Bastard Rain to celebrate the release of (The) LPX new EP entitled Fashion, not fashion which is released on Drunken Lust Records in November. Venue: The Boom Boom Room, Murray's (downstairs) O' Connell Street, Dublin 1 Time:8:30 Price:8 euro (The) LPX LPX is Kildare man Leigh O’Gorman (LPX for shortness). He specialises in brooding punk infused experimental electronica, as heard on three recent (and highly recommended) releases, Seventeen, Experiments in Dub and HiFi and Easy Music for Difficult Ears. On LPX releases he provides the (occasional) vocals, the programming, the production AND plays all the instruments and is also the man behind The Electric Fix, a musical collective running gigs around Dublin as well as occassionally releasing CD's and the like. Leigh says his music sounds like “a bunch of nerds in a small room dropping acid”. When performing live (and in studio) Leigh prefers to use Reason 2.5, Cubase SX along with piano's, guitars, percussion and anything else he can get his hands on. In his spare time, he writes for the music orientated blog, Easy Music for Difficult Ears - easymusicfordifficultears.blogspot.com His new EP, entitled "Fashion, Not Fashion" will be out on Drunken Lust Records in late November as a free release from their website - drunkenlustrecords.com Brian Cullen's Love Bullets Brian Cullen's Love Bullets are a Dublin based three piece who play loud music, sometimes too loud. They release their second EP called Bring Out Your Dead on November 21st this year. The band will be showcasing a new set on the night with 6 new songs which highlight the bands darker new sound. The Bastard Rain Discopip brunton in the corner, banging things with sticks and pressin buttons, the ag man coming out of the shaddows playin licks enigmaticly, and johnny raz howling like a stuck pig and waving his maraccas arround. its something to do anyway. __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____________________________REVIEWS FOR 'THIS BASTARD RAIN WILL CRUSH US ALL______________"The Bastard Rain are a discordant mix of archaic folk, lo-fi, chamber music and rock." niall, state magazine (www.state.ie)----''features some nice psyche tinged fuzzy rock sounds with a bit of everything from early suicide to radiohead'' ROAD RECORDS (www.roadrecs.com) __________________________________________________ _______________________________COMMENTARY (GOOD BAD AND INDIFFERENT)____________ ''Holy s**t, these men are the weirdest, most brilliant, most spectacular genius' of modern times- can't recommend these guys enough''- (igor honey, art historian and philantrophist)_____________""kicking against the pricks" era Nick Cave buzz with mad electronics and Irish folk elements, great great stuff" -allen blythe, ballroom of romance.
