Death Via Satellite is a rocktacular, electro/new wave/indie night that holds court one Friday a month in Eamonn Dorans, Dublin. Gathering momentum and a loyal crowd since July 2006, DVS brings the best bands to you with minimum fuss and maximum noise

We've already seen the likes of Love Lies Sleeping (L.A., USA), The Kits (Australia), Queen Kong, alazurussoul, Mendoza, The Ultra Montanes, Kopek, mojoFURY, Fight Like Apes, DC Pakt, Orphan Code, Distractors, Autoban, Laundry Shop, The Eclectic, Sons of Now & Stagger Lee play storming shows, & after 9 shows on Tuesdays we've moved to Friday nights so that hangover can be dealt with on a Saturday in bed rather than Wednesday in work...

This month, Death Via Satellite is cordially inviting you to their Halloween Ball, where arriving in your finest costume is de rigeur, and will be rewarded. How? Wait and see... These spooky goings on are celebrated by a headline set from GORBACHOV, Waterford's finest dance-rocking ghouls, after tipped mad scientists I PHOENIX demonstrate their sonic breakthroughs outside of laboratory conditions. NEON STARS indie incantations will whip any undead crowd into an early frenzy, and late DJ's man the decks from 11.30 with a heady mix of monster-mashing electro & indie for all...

GORBACHOV's brand of rabble rousing, energising disco-rock has seeped into the Irish consciousness in 2008, with a legendary live show that makes many an established act look stale and stagnant... In 2008 alone they have been selected for the IMRO Showcase tour, won the lot at Murphy's Live, blown the (bloody) doors off Dorans at HWCH in September, played festivals a-plenty (opening for Fatboy Slim in Latvia!), release their debut album and generally made a fan for life in anybody who's witnessed their manic performances. In short, they've had a good year, they're sounding better than ever and are back in Dublin at Death Via Satellite's Halloween Ball for an all too rare appearance in the metrop...

I PHOENIX are an emerging force in late 2008, forming earlier this year with a renewed purpose and deft touch for fusing melody with vibrant guitar dynamics. The power of their efforts really takes flight live, Biffy Clyro & FKOS is a useful starting point for describing their sound but witness their happening at DVS and see how much they have to offer in 2009...

NEON STARS are a Dublin four piece that trade in spiky, up-tempo riffery & have been building up a formidable reputation across the live scene over the past year. If you're too cool to dance, stay at the back because there wont be a shortage of willing disciples as Neon Stars open proceedings at DVS 23.

Doors open at 8.45, admission always a paltry €10. With DJ’s til late beaming in rock/electro/indie/new wave/post punk, come early for the bands, stay late for drinking, dancing, debauchery and Death Via Satellite...
