Burial and the whole dub-step thing are so over-rated.

Isn't Burial supposed to be an anonymous\secret identity sort of thing? Might be a bit awkward if he won..

I don't think Burial is over rated at all. 'Untrue' and 'Burial' are two of my favourite records from the past few years. Really hope 'Untrue' gets it, will expose more people to his music.

Ah I dunno Una, maybe I should give it another spin, but I listened to Untrue and I just thought "sounds like 1997 all over again". Remember previous Mercury Prize winner New Forms by Roni Size? I mean that was a pretty good album, but not that good, it hasn't aged well and is a bit dry to listen to, and I hear a little bit of history repeating in Burial, partly of course because Dubsteps lineage can be traced back to Drum'n'Bass of the 90s. This is the Mercury Prize token "urban" entry. Sadly, no other album on the list jumps out as being a deserving winner either.

I don't care if it's the 'token' 'urban' album, and I don't think you can really say it's history repeating itself because you could say that about every rock or indie album that has ever won too. I just think Untrue is the best record on the list.

...you might be right about it being the best on the list, but that's because the list is pretty lacklustre. Decent enough album, nowhere near lives up to the hype.
