Death Via Satellite is a rocktacular, electro/new wave/indie night that holds court once a month in Eamonn Dorans, Dublin. Gathering momentum and a loyal crowd since 2006, DVS brings the best bands to you with minimum fuss and maximum noise After 10 great shows on Tuesday nights, we've moved to Friday nights (mostly) so that hangover can be dealt with on a Saturday in bed rather than Wednesday in work... DVS has already seen some storming shows by the likes of Love Lies Sleeping (L.A., USA), The Kits (Australia), Queen Kong, alazurussoul, Mendoza, The Ultra Montanes, Kopek, mojoFURY, Fight Like Apes, DC Pakt, Orphan Code, Distractors, Autoban, Laundry Shop & Stagger Lee... Our next show is Saturday 7th June in Eamonn Dorans, with a line up that includes a headline set by rising synth rock monster LIGHTS with the eagerly awaited return of ZEALOTS keeping the stage warm. 80's tinged synth/noise-pop from THE NIGHT opens proceedings, with DJ's TOY DISCO manning the decks from 11.30 with a heady mix of electro & indie for all... LIGHTS have stealthily crept up on the Irish music scene in 2008 and are now poised to blast it from it's foundations. Originally dubbed 'The Negative Way', they have emerged with some of the most immediate & impressive slabs of synth-rock seen on these shores, er... ever! Their sound is a hard-edged helping of rumbling synthesizer undertowing urgent guitars and with vocals that evoke Dave Gahan at his finest. They are currently Connected Magazine's Demo of the Month, have played the IMRO showcase in March and are shaping up for the Life Festival this Summer. In short, if you've not come across them yet, you will… Witness their happening at DVS 19. ZEALOTS return to the fray in 2008 after some line-up changes last year, in what is no doubt great news for anyone who's witnessed them in the previous incarnation (and everyone else too). Fuelled by the darkwave of Depeche Mode and Interpol, with the muscular rock spine of Muse fused to BRMC, Zealots resurgence will no doubt result in even more untameable performances… THE NIGHT draw in many great influences to create a varied and vibrant sound, careening from lo-fi workouts in the vein of classic Jesus & Mary Chain, to atmospheric 80's synth drenched soundscapes that float over the listener... Doors open at 8.45, admission a paltry €8. With DJ’s til late beaming in rock/electro/indie/new wave/post punk, come early for the bands, stay late for drinking, dancing, debauchery and Death Via Satellite... www.myspace.com/lightsdc www.myspace.com/zealotsmusic www.myspace.com/lovethenight www.myspace.com/deathviasatellitepromo
