Brilliant gig. The gig received little promotion- no mention on Tom Dunne's gigs of week, not even listed in yesterday's Irish Times Ticket. It's to our eternal shame that the best band to come out of this country in recent years are ignored by the Irish media while 2 British acts playing in different venues on the same night (British Sea Power and Scroobius Pip vs Dan Le Sac, excellent bands also) receive plenty of publicity. Nevertheless, there was huge turnout which was good to see. So good live that they sound identical to their recorded output...no duds in the set, no filler, great rich powerful sound, much heavier in a live setting too. The best band we have by a long, long way.

It's a little unfair to compare them to a motorway Unicron but each to their own. Personally, I was a little underwhelmed on Friday. Maybe it's the fifth time seeing them effect, maybe I shouldn't have sat up the back. They don't seem to be as focused on the visuals side anymore; the name of every song used to be displayed on the projections and, though I'm not sure of this, they seemed to change some visuals from what they used to use? Anyway, next time they play I think I'll head toward the front and feed off the incredible energy they put into playing. Wish them all the best in the States too, hope all goes well for them there. I agree it's a shame they aren't better acclaimed in Ireland, just wish they weren't so bitter about it. I mean, we're their fans, we came out to see them play, no point giving out to us about it.

They didn't say anything. What Torsten, main guy in the band, said was that everything they do is self-financed so it was great to see such a huge turnout with the venue almost full to capacity. Then he said something about going off to tour America and to keep up to date with future releases and dates via the website 'as you won't read anything about us in the Irish media' which is true, sadly. Though saying that, there was a glowing review of the gig by Eamon Sweeney in the Irish Indo.
