It's still a bit premature but so far am loving Weird Fishes/Arpeggi & Bodysnatchers.

.. on 1st listen, it sounds like a less interesting version of "The Eraser" (nearly said the erasure there!), but it probably needs a few more spins.

I like 'Videotape' and 'House Of Cards' the best so far. 'Nude' is good too.

to be honest, as a 'radiohead enthusiast', hearing nude, properly recorded after all these years was really a rather moving experience.

so often tracks that have proven difficult to nail for bands show signs of a heavy hand when finally recorded. nude, however, has a delicacy about it that is both refreshing and a huge relief!

I've heard a couple of tracks on the radio so far tonight and I liked them: 'Weird Fishes' and 'Respecter' (anyone else think 'Respecter' sounds 'Fools Gold'ish?) - well-produced (lots of layers and sounds but not at all cluttered) and interesting. I'm usually fairly indifferent towards Radiohead but I liked the 'Kid A' era stuff - and these new songs sound likeable to me.

...there's music of all sorts that i love and the left part of my brain knows is technically 'better' or more impressive or whatever than some of the stuff they may have made but....radiohead are just my band...i may not listen to them for months at a time but there's a loyalty there. they're stamped all over the last 15 years of my life and have never disappointed me. everytime there's rumblings of new material my heart rate starts to gather pace partly due to excitement and partly out of fear that this will be the record that will end it, the one i won't like....i've flirted with other bands, foolishly told them i loved them, had the odd one night stand, moved in with some had holiday romances with others but radiohead are the constant....






*now would probably be a good time to mention that i've had around three large glasses of red wine and no dinner

I also think it's a bit of a step forward lyrically...as much as I like Radiohead, Thom's "paranoid little piggie" approach to lyric writing was something that always bugged me. Stuff like "House of Cards" and "Videotape" seem refreshingly straightforward.

Some gorgeous stuff on there, though I can't help feeling a tiny bit let down at the lack of real surprises (most of the stuff is very similiar to the way they were playing it live when they previewed the songs last summer - so what took them so long?).. Nude is one of the best things they've ever done, House of Cards and 15 Steps are other favourites of mine. I can't help feeling that it could've done with one or two more dirty rock tracks like Bodysnatchers to balance the ethereal prettiness of the rest - might end up mixing in a couple of the songs from the bonus CD when that eventually appears. Also, Videotape done nearly as a solo-Yorke track feels like a missed opportunity compared to the belting full-band version of it they were playing last year. It is good, though maybe not as revolutionary as I'd hoped.. it does seem like a grower\slow-burner though.
