I'm sure Gerry Halliwell means it too, doesn't make it good. Nor does it make what you have to say worth saying. To my mind, Springsteens reputation seems to trade largely on "authenticity", that whole "real lives of ordinary folk from Noo Joisey" (though he obviously moved on from those themes). I think people put too much stock in that sort of thing. "Authenticity" is a fairly undefinable concept in music.

plus he has managed to touch people for 4 decades and still remains relevant.
..in the current musical climate that reveres him, which is what I'm getting at in the first place.
