After a hot summer of killer beach parties in Ibiza, WAXON bring their box fresh label night to Ireland. Created by the soul of Nightmares On Wax, George Evelyn, aka DJ EASE, to nurture handpicked artists, djs, producers and musicians, catch the first wave of this venture tonight. Funk, Soul, Afrobeat, Reggae and Jazz heritage meets third generation b-boy culture, urban lifestyle, electronic attitude and digital evolution. WAXON Records - the soul of NOW

Honest music – truly a rare thing in times like these. George Evelyn aka DJ Ease, the positive force behind Nightmares On Wax, obviously knows a lot about musical honesty… and so it comes as no surprise that finally the man decided to take the next step to complete artistic freedom by creating his very own label imprint: WAXON Records.

“The basic idea behind WAXON is to deliver quality music with that certain ‘soul factor’ and, for that purpose, to create a network of unknown, or known artists, djs, singers/MCs, producers and musicians alike,” George explains. “In the strong belief that when you have creative people all pulling in the same direction, something special is gonna happen…”.

During Nightmares’ extensive and deep journey into sound over the past two decades, George met quite a few individuals broadcasting on his wavelength soundwise: intense production headz and spiritual music lovers from around the globe who all share a common vision of timeless “now” music that draws from a rich background. In a wide open (and ever expanding) space where Funk, Soul, Afrobeat, Reggae and Jazz heritage meet 3rd generation b-boy culture, urban lifestyle, electronic attitude and digital evolution, anything is possible. Some of the finest and most talented producers from that field are now gathering for good on WAXON Records. Hand picked, nurtured and supported (in one way or another) by George and his crew, the start up label roster includes stand out artists like retroactive future funksters JD 73 and Negghead from England, french fried beat scientist Guts Le Bienheureux and Budapest supersonic sound sensation Gelka. These exceptional talents will all come up with seriously fresh EP and album releases on WAXON throughout 2007.

“This is only the first wave for WAXON, we have a lot of plans and way more great sounds in the pipeline” George says and smiles. “Yet this first wave already holds quite a few surprises and amazing creative work, perfectly mirroring my musical attitude and taste. I am happy and thrilled to be able to present WAXON as a healthy, open minded and vibrant playground for the inner musical child of likeminded souls who share my vision – and I sure share theirs.”

The summer and fall of 2007 will also see WAXON label nights all over europe, blowing the fuse for more quality now music with that certain amount of extra soul. Blasting from a set of speakers near you very soon…
