Well, tonight's the night - who d'you reckon'll win/be robbed? Is it for certain Bat For Lashes? Or could Fionn Regan really win it?

No idea, I hope bat for lashes gets it though, only discovered her stuff about a week or two ago, what I've hears so far kind of sounds like Black Box Recorder produced by Phil Spector. Fionn Regan is good, and NYPC are fun, but hardly ground breaking.

Well no such luck, the musical apocalypse is at hand: The Klaxons won. *Bang* shoots self in head (and writes about it afterwards)

Can't BELIEVE Klaxons won. Two good tracks and a cover = Mercury Prize. Ridiculous.

Big deal. Past winners of the Mercury Music Prize include, if I'm not mistaken, M People. These ceremonies are just marketing tools anyway. Their main function is to enable the record industry to label the front of CD cases to make it easier for dullards to decide what to buy in a record store.

    Jesus, the mans right!

M People won it for Elegant Slumming in 1994, sandwiched between Suede and Portishead.

Depends which lexus, those Altezza/IS200 yokes are more the preserve of happy hardcore/trance heads these days.

I wouldn't take the Mercury Music Prize seriously - it seems to follow a formula every year of a lot of mainstream acts, with a few "alternative" bands thrown in to create some false authenticity. That The Klaxons won only confirms its worthlessness.

I would like to say that if MTV are looking for any 'real celebrity death match' ideas then may i put forward the Klaxons and may they fight amongst themselves till death breaks them up. Shockingly bad band.

    well said the gingerman...

although i'd argue that their main function is to alert the majors to which acts they're supposed to be buying...
