During my few weeks back in Eire (flying back to my CLUAS Foreign Correspondent post this Friday) I've found the new Spin South West and I like it. Of course, the talk shows are still awful (just like Spin Dubbalin) but they're obliged to have a percentage of talk content so we'll forgive them that.

What I especially like, though, are:
    1) the dance/electronica DJs at the weekend
    2) a Sunday morning show called 'Alt' which just plays new music by Irish bands (the show is in Irish, I should add) - a really brilliant show.

Anyway, along with my fellow Kerrymen Donal Dineen and Cian O Ciabhain (on RnaG), there's plenty of brilliant new music (Irish and international)on Irish radio - all easy to find and just waiting to thrill you. And in Dublin you have Jim Carroll and Pearl on Phantom and The Indie Hour on Anna Livia, and probably other adventurous DJs that for commercial reasons just won't be on daytime radio.

Point being, no reason for complaining (like on other threads) that there's no good stuff/new/stuff/Irish stuff on the radio - there's enough there to keep you going.

    (2FM is still dire, though)

The Sunday morning show on Spin is brilliant. Was listening to it at the weekend - Ham Sandwich, Fight Like Apes, Delorentos; great stuff.

The north west of Ireland could really do with a decent radio station. Donal Dineen is the only show I can listen to, but he's on way too late these days which is a real pity.

I love the Fight Like Apes EP - the best Irish release in a long time. Still yet to see them live, though our drummer rants about their live shows.

Ah, so it's on Spin in Dublin too? Wasn't sure which shows were regional... yes, I heard Ham Sandwich too on Sunday morning and it had me buzzing for the whole day (well, until around 3.15, when mister Tevez missed an open goal from six inches )

How about Cian O Ciobhain and 'An Taobh Tuathail' on RnaG? Starts around 10 or 11. Maybe too much electronica for some tastes but it's always brilliant stuff.

Nice one Aidan! I haven't heard his show (or even heard about it)... will defo give it a spin tonight. I love electronica - all our stuff is built around electronic beats/ loops, so it suits me to the ground (apologies for yet another self-promoting plug, but if I don't do it, no-one else will!)
