Coming to Dublin on 16th Sept for a rare performance, Legendary Finish experimental electronic music duo, Mika Vainio and Ilpo Väisänen, a.k.a. Pan sonic. Their music is a fusion of influences, merging the harsh and pure sounds of Industrial techno with the more subdued instrumental sound-scapes of reggae and dub. The end result is a powerful low frequency visceral emission, a montage made up of two counter cultures that forms a new electronic whole - precise, loud, minimal but also warm and inspirational.
Pan sonic work with home made synthesizers and improvised sound systems. In 1995 Panasonic performed in a car park in London's East End with a notorious Audio Weapons Armoured Car System, a sound system rigged up on an armoured car featuring a 5K turbo sound PA which was built and developed by Jimmy Cauty of The KLF fame.
Both Mika and Ilpo indulge in their own side projects and they have remixed tracks for the likes of Björk, 2K (KLF) and Riuchi Sakamoto & also release their own solo projects on various labels including Touch, Sahko & Mego.
Tickets €20 from www.tickets.ie, City Discs and Temple Bar Gallery and Studios
