"I may stick around, or I may be a fad, but I won't sell my music for no tv ad!"
Sorry, couldn't resist a little B-Boys quote there. Funny how these days bands are congratulated for using their music to sell products, or licensing it to awful american TV shows. 30 years ago it was considered selling out to even go on Top of the Pops. Times have changed...

Certainly has. Bands can't even rely on a Top of the Pops for exposure anymore. It seems the best way to get their music to the masses is marketing.
What annoys me is when dead artists are taken advantage off. Obviously they’ve no say and I just feel that whoever does (family members, lawyers, whoever) sometimes make bad decisions that make the artist look cheap. The worst offender has to be Janie Hendrix, Jimi's half sister. The remaster project from about five years ago was really great but since then she's been pawning him off with any old s**t that'll sell. I'm sure Jimi Hendrix would like to know his music is providing for his family four decades after his death, but how would he feel about golf balls and coffee-mugs with his face emblazoned on the side?
Yoko Ono's not much better. Last time I was at my sisters house she showed me some John Lennon bedsheets(!) she got for the child. Its not as if Yoko needs the money, she's minted. Greedy old cow.
