Death Via Satellite is a rocktacular, electro/new wave, indie night that holds court once a month in Eamonn Dorans, Dublin. The night is brought to you by MENDOZA, Dublin's new-wave/rock/indie/electro hybrid, bringing the best bands to you with minimum fuss and maximum noise. Our March show takes place on Tuesday March 27th in Eamonn Dorans where we promise an unrivalled line up, DJ's til late and €3.50 for any drink, just cos we're that nice... We've already seen the likes of Love Lies Sleeping (L.A., USA), Queen Kong, alazurussoul, Mendoza, Transit, The Ultra Montanes, Kopek, mojoFURY & Stagger Lee play storming shows, and the line up for DVS 09 is no different with a headline set by OFFSHORE, with MENDOZA and LAUNDRY SHOP ... Followed with a DJ set TBC. OFFSHORE are a melodic and haunted affair that float drifting, introspective moments around any venue, built on a lilting foundation of piano and spooky, Interpol-esque chiming guitars. They build emotion and intensity throughout every show and as their hold on any audience is complete they shift gears and power into rousing anthems that any self-respecting indie outfit can only dream of. They have built up quite a following both in their native Swords and citywide through their debut EP, catch them at DVS 09 as they sweep you off your feet… MENDOZA warm things up for Offshore with a searing set full of new-wave rock energyblast, where a blitzkreig of a show is always delivered. Since returning to the live fold in early 2006 with a full arsenal of noise operas Mendoza have been turning heads around Ireland with their melding of Korg synth growl, chiming guitars, filthy bass, infectious beats and call-to-arms vocals. They are building a real following both at home and now abroad, having played in London in November 06 in Camden's legendary Dublin Castle, and closer to home opening for The Thermals, darlings of Sub Pop from Portland, Oregon. Mendoza release their first single 28 Days/Lights Out on April 6th so see them preview the tracks at DVS 09... And bring a towel, as its bound to get sweaty! Opening proceedings is LAUNDRY SHOP, who have risen from the ashes of great white hopes of 2004/05 ANGELS OF MONS. Anyone who has ever seen their live show or is lucky enough to own their excellent album Last Of The Dead Empires will know all about their Surfer Rosa-era Pixies sound with a glaze of Bowie thrown in. However Laundry Shop are to be seen as standing on the shoulder of Mons musical acheivements - built on the same bedrock but able to reach much much higher. Laundry Shop wear Sonic Youth and Pavement as the biggest influences on their sleeve and despite this being early days for this new incarnation there is a definite buzz in the air over their (soon to be) happening. Say you were there at the beginning of it all and catch them at DVS 09. Special guest DJ's til late beam in rock/electro/indie/punk/funk/new wave/post punk and yes, all drinks are €3.50 after 10.30, admission €5. Doors open at 8.45, bands at 9. Come early for OFFSHORE/MENDOZA/LAUNDRY SHOP, stay late for drinking, dancing, debauchery and Death Via Satellite... www.myspace.com/deathviasatellitepromo www.myspace.com/offshoreonline www.myspace.com/mendozamusic
