Loads of brilliant articles on The Guardian's website always, but in the music section they have a couple of really fascinating ones (if you haven't already seen them):

First, they asked 49 musicians/writers to each nominate an album that they love which is completely unrecognised and unknown by the wider public (the article is in two parts):

Then they asked readers to nominate the 50th in their list: the best suggestions and the ultimate winner are here:

I know it's a regular series in some magazines but still..... 100 (apparently) great albums, and apart from 'Inspiration Information' by Shuggie Otis (a bit saccharine for me but still a lovely record) I've heard none of them - deadly! Discovering brilliant music is a thrill, so off I go this week to my local library to take out loads of CDs (vive la France! High taxes but great public services).

Does anyone have any of those albums on the list?

This was in The Guardian last week as a two-page spread. While it's interesting, a lot of the stuff seems a bit far out. Anyway, I have eight albums from the lists submitted by the musicians/writers, but just two from the one created by the readers.

I can safely say I have no single album on this list. For some reason I expect to get judged about that

more intrigued by the readers' list than the musicians' TBH, at least i've heard of quite a few of the acts there
i loved 'welcome to the boomtown' from david and david all those years ago, will defintely seek out that album

The Beulah record nominated by Dave Eggers is lovely!

And, of course, Dion's Born To Be With You should be in just about everyone's record collection... it is simply stunning.

I have Neutral Milk Hotel and Beulah..

Is it in order? I'd like to get the top 5 or something, if I could figure it out..
