    At last here it is. It's not quite fully perfect, but it is certainly good enough to roll out.

    If you were a registerd user of the previous version of the CLUAS discussion forum then your full profile has been successfully migrated to this new board. You can log in with your old name BUT NOT WITH YOUR OLD PASSWORD!!! To get your new password do the following:

    -> Click the new 'Login' link up there on the top right hand side.
    -> You will be brought to the login page. Do NOT yet try and login.
    -> Instead click the "Forgot Password" link
    -> You will be brought to a new page where you will be asked to enter a user name. Enter your old CLUAS discussion board user name.
    -> An email will be sent to your email account associated with your old CLUAS login.
    -> In this email there will be a new password and a 'Verification code' (you will not need the 'verification code' so ignore it).
    -> You can now log in with the new password (be sure to use the password and not the 'verification code)'.
    -> You will then be logged on - a confirmation page will tell you this. Your user name should now be appearing in the top right hand corner of the page (if not hit F5 or CTRL+F5 at any time to refresh the page).
    -> If you click on your user name you will be brought to your own profile's page on the site. You are strongly recommended to immediately change your password on this page (click on 'Manage Password' to do this).

    One thing to note is you do not now log on to the discussion board but you log on to the CLUAS site which includes a discussion board, if you get my nuanced drift...

    If you have any problems provide the details here.

    There are a number of things that still need to be done (or are not done well enough). E.g. the logon confimation pages are crap, and each forum's list of topics could be formatted more nicely (that particular page has me stumped), and where are the formatting options for when writing a new post? I know. Little by little things will be sorted out.

    Suffice to say this new arrangement opens up huge possilbities for the site which I will elaborate upon in a seperate posting.

    Eoghan!

    A small but important thing about the board...

    Previously I was able to read the board (whilst not logged in). If I found a thread that I wanted to reply on, I could click Reply and LogIn / Write my reply at the same time.

    Now I need to leave the thread, find the LogIn button top right, log in, find the thread again and now I have the button I need in order to reply to a message.

    I think it was better when I was able to log in there and then on the Reply that I was typing.

    Good feedback Stephen. First up the bad news - I don't see a possiblity with the current version of this forum's software for posting a quick reply by typing in your LogIn & pass word and writing a reply at the same time, on the same page. However don't foget that a "quick reply" box is provided at the bottom of a thread but only for those users logged in! My advice therefore is that you tick "remember password" option when logging in (okay if nobody else is using your computer, no good if you are in a cyber cafe).

    However some more good news - what I think will be possible is that if you are not logged in and see a thread you want to reply to, that you then go and hit 'login', when you have logged in that you be then redirected to the original topic you want to reply to. I've tried to set this up and so far can only get it to redirect after login to the discussion board's main page, but not to the specific topic. This is somehting I believe can be done and I will investigate it further.

    Eoghan,

    the Remember Password button does not work for me. I need to enter my details with every visit.

    An alternative might be that you need to look at using a cookie so that CLUAS "remembers" who I am when I return such that I do not need to log on at all. In that way, my use of the discussion board is completely unencumbered.

    Yeah Remember Password isn't working anymore, I have to log in each time I come back to the site as well.
    I think you could do with horizontal lines seperating each topic in the forums too like it was before, makes it easier to read i think.

    I think I know what to do to correct the 'Remember Password' - will do it tonight.

    And Comet, I agree with you 100% about the lack of lines seperating the topics in an individual forum. I know (or thought I knew) what needs to be done to make it happen but it does not work. I am seeking now advice from the guys you wrote the software that drives this board. I expect it to be sorted in due course.

    I have configured it now so that if you click on 'Remember Password' when logging in, your password will be 'remembered' on your PC (via a 'cookie') for 48 hours. Previously the 'cookie' was set to expire after 60 minutes if you chose 'Remember Password'.

    Let me know if anyoen has any problems on this front.

    Not sure if this was raised with you already but when i click on each of the links under the 'Forum RSS Feeds' on the right side of the page it gives just a page of , i think, HTML code with this error on the top - ''This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.'' - all of the links work from other areas so i can still view the forums though. Just thought id mention it
