what a show, opened with Agnus Dei with Rufus at the piano, diamante brooch sparkling and scarf thrown over his shoulder. His hair looked like it had a mind of its own and flopped around in time to the music. He played for well over 2 hours and did two or three encores. He had his band with him and mixed up the set with full band numbers and solo songs on the piano. Amazing. He sang Little Sister for Martha, Beauty Mark for Kate, Dinner at Eight for Loudon. Other songs that got an airing included The Art Teacher, Peach Trees, Gay Messiah dedicated to Pope John Paul and Pope Benedict, Memphis Skyline for Jeff Buckley, Hallelujah, The One You Love, 14th Street, Beautiful Child, Pretty Things, Vibrate, Cigarettes and Chocolate, California and many more. He did Old Whore's Diet in full costume of skimpy black outfit, Miss Dublin sash, tiara, fairy wings and wand and the rest of the band followed suit and stripped down to green and gold underwear and it became a gay cabaret for the last 10-15 minutes. He finished up in a black cloak and witch's hat and a standing ovation from the crowd upstairs. Really brilliant gig, definitely check out Martha Wainwright in July, reckon she'll be equally as good.
