bugger, meant to watch that and completely forgot. is there a repeat? One of my friends saw them at the astoria on monday, their biggest gig yet. He said it was absolutley amazing the energy in the crowd and on stage was electric. Would love to see them at an indoor venue, (vicar st? or the Olympia) but Electric Picinic will have to do, big disappointment they are not playing Glasto, would have loved to have seen them there.

I thought they started off slowly with the song but really got into it by the midpoint, Win was complaining about them having to cut some stuff out of the song at the Astoria gig but I thought it went pretty well. The great thing about recording it on my new DVD recorder is that when there was somethign crap on I could just hit the chapter skip button and it would be over.

There doesn't seem to be a repeat lined up for the show. I thought the Foo Fighters were pretty poor and Hard-Fi are dreadful but Arcade Fire were excellent - I'm quickly becoming a fan of theirs. Next Friday's 'Later With Jools Holland' features Robert Plant, The Fall, GO Team!, Mose Allison and Athlete.

Yep, Arcade Fire were the biz alright on Jools.Sooo different. Justifying the hype big-time. Really put Hard-Fi and all those Brit 'Art-Rock' ideas-starved bands to shame. Roll on-Electric Picnic!

they played Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out) and Rebellion (Lies) I didn't think Hard-Fi were the worst band there (Black Eyed Peas were embarrassing and that Razor song Dave Grohl played was so boring and predictable). 'Tied Up Too Tight' is an alright song but I was confused as to why they didn't play 'Cash Machine' (or maybe I missed it)

Yeh i didnt tink Hard-Fi were that bad either. They do sound alot better on CD though. Arcade Fire were ridiculously good. Hope they play in one of the tents at Electric Picnic. Will be brilliant anyway

Was interested to see how Win Butler sang live. glad it wasn't s**t! You know the way Wayne Coyne from Flaming Lips has no power in his voice at all. I feared it might be the same deal but NO! Thought Hard-Fi were pretty bad and new Foos stuff has the same problem I thought the last album had. The guitars just dont sound very defined, like a constant fuzz and no real hooks. Have they run out of tunes? Black eyed peas were so bad and it all sounded so lazy! During that "Misirlou" song I wanted to throw my girlfriends TV out the window. She wouldnt let me.

RE the Foos, they have had one good song (All My Life) since The Color And The Shape, which is a shame since I do consider myself a fan. I only ever listen to the first two albums, the rest is b****x.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but with the new Foo Fighters album, is it a double album? One side rock and the other acoustic?

Yeah, Black Eyed Peas Were awful. Jools tries to be eclectic as possible, everything from World Music to chart dross like the Peas. His producer should draw the line somewhere. Foo Fighters new album has Snorah Jones on it. What would Kurt think? Foos' first 2 albums were their best ('Everlong' is fantastic), since then they just seem to be retreading old ideas.

yep, one side accoustic, one side rock. I've heard the new single (can't remember the name, 'Best Of Me' maybe?) it's from the 'loud' side of the album and it's rubbish with very dodgy production. I would imagine, the accoustic stuff is equally pedestrian. Everlong is the Foo Fighters golden moment.

You're all WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Foo Fighters rule. Their third album ( There Is Nothing Left To Lose ) was excellent. Their last album "One By One" had some dodgy moments but also some cracking songs including "Times Like These" which is one of their best. Can't wait to see them rock Oxegen. I remain unconvinced by Arcade Fire - seemed a bit too obviously "oh look at us we're mad and eclectic and sh*t ! " for my taste.

Your comment about the Arcade Fire is perfect material for those who think rock fans are dumb and unadventurous.

"Times Like These" is a prime example of the hookless, fuzzy, over long songs they've been coming out with in the past few years, with a few exceptions. I agree with Una about the first 2 albums. Ive never been a big fan of his lyrics and the less interesting the tune, the more obvious his lyrical mediocrity. As for Arcade Fire saying "Look at us, we're different"... They ARE different! Every band says "look at us". A band like them, armed with great songs, distinctive sound and passion by the bucketload can't help but attract attention.

Everytime a Foos song or album comes out, I pray it won't be as bland as the last, but it usually is. Dave Grohl is also very vocally loose live. Still, I love the first two albums and will go see them at Oxegen maybe. They;re playing on Sunday right? That's the only day I'm going to so they better be.

I reckon they get by these days on the enormous likeability of Mr.Grohl (as well as his etched in stone historic rock status) and some funny MTV friendly videos. If their last album had been a debut by a new band of unknowns, no-one wouldve paid any attention.

Double album from the Foos. You just know there is gonna be sooo much filler on it. Why do bands do double-albums? They should really only attempt it if they are at the height of their creative powers, otherwise don't bother.
