Well you missed the big one. The line up was outstanding. I just wish I was a good enough writer to be able to describe how good it actually was.
To be honnest I just got into The Frames over a year ago, and since then I have really been opened up the Irish Music scene. I was always a big Paddy Casey fan but I mean my music collection from the last year now includes:
Damian Rice - BellX1, Paddy Casey, Mundy, Gemma Hayse, The Frames, Mic Christopher. And they were all playing on the Night. Mic included. In what was one of the most wonderful gigs ever.
It started off at about 7:30 and I think they eventually stopped at about 11:50. It was a pure busking session. Class. Damian Rice and Lisa Hannigan had to neal down to sing so they could read the words.
It was also a very emotional night. Mic got a standing ovation for his new song Skylarking which his Sister introduced and they played his version of it off the CD.
Maybe the best way to explain the ammount of emotion in the event would be to say that for a gig where there were slow sad songs to Loud Rock mixed with some Elvis. It was after one of the Loud one I saw Glenn wiping tears from his eyes. Oh and when Glenn got Harry Christopher to sing on stage. It was amazing...
Another thing to point out was the Crowd. They were awesome. They really got into it. It was great to see that no matter what song was played, everyone knew the words. I even knew the words and I've only been a fan of this music scene for 18 months. I reckon this night will never be topped by any gig I see.
