Death Via Satellite is a rocktacular, electro/new wave, indie night that will be holding court once a month in Eamonn Dorans, Dublin. Bringing the best bands to you with minimum fuss and maximum noise, check out our bands tracks above to see whats in store at the next show... ***The next show takes place on Tuesday October 17th in Eamonn Dorans where we promise an unrivalled line up, DJ's til late and e3.50 for any drink, just cos we're that nice... This shows features performances by Kopek, Mendoza and Transit. The first show saw Love Lies Sleeping, from Los Angeles California headline as part of their Irish tour, August saw the mean, moody and magnificent Queen Kong mesmerize DVS and September played host to the brilliant alazarussoul who enthralled a packed house of loyal DVS revellers with their claustraphobic yet vital view of modern life. *** DVS 04 Kopek need no introduction, as the overall winners of the celebrated Global Battle of the Bands 2005. They stormed the Irish finals and then had the audience and judging panel at London's Astoria eating out of their hand to scoop the overall title, gaining instant fame and a world tour into the bargain. They have now played in more countries than they can remember, bringing the snarl and stomp of their grunge/garage/greatness hybrid to the front line in famous venues all around Europe and the US. Any comparison with bands such as Nirvana, The Vines is doing them a great injustice though as they aspire to much more than that with soaring melodies to match their rock crunch and power. Catch these standard bearers of homegrown rock at DVS before they head off on another whistle-stop tour of Europe in November... Mendoza warm things up for Kopek with a searing set full of new-wave rock energyblast, where a blitzkreig of a show is always delivered. Since returning to the live fold in early 2006 with a full arsenal of noise operas Mendoza have been turning heads around Ireland with their melding of Korg synth growl, chiming guitars, filthy bass and infectious beats. They are building a real following both at home and now abroad, playing a couple of shows in London in November, including Camden's legendary Dublin Castle so be there to see them preview tracks from their upcoming single before its on your iPod and in your ears. Make Nov 30th a red letter day in your diary as Mendoza open for The Thermals, darlings of Sub Pop from Portland, Oregon. Check ticketmaster for details... And bring a towel, as its bound to get sweaty! Transit are a Dublin based 4 piece that specialise in snappy, catchy and extremely danceable garage punk, the closest you can get to New York cool in Dublin in October... Songs such as the featured 'What would you say?' is a head turning statement of intent from Transit, its rhythms and riffs would seduce the most hardened cynic at the edge of the dancefloor into action, taken from their well received demo 'Passage Through, Conveyance'. Drop-d.ie have described it as a 'demonstration of great talent', so discover this for yourself on Oct 17th! As always all drinks are €3.50 after 10.30 so bring your drinking boots/dancing shoes as guest DJ's beam in the best in rock/indie/electro/new wave/punk til late... First 10 people to send us a myspace mail go on the guestlist... Doors at 8.45, admission is €5. DVS 04 / 17.10.06
