MAXIMUM JOY PRESENT PARTY WEIRDO STOAT & Maximum Joy DJ's & Guests Keef n' Glen (Breakers Revenge) Underground @ Kennedy's, 32-33 Westland Row, D2. 9:30pm till 3am €8 Party Weirdo This all girl three piece claim to express feminist ideals through driving, happy, melodics music. In truth they are so much more. Their raw melodic nous and no wave fuelled energy is like imagining how a band featuring Kim's Deal and Gordon might have sounded had they played together back in the early 80's. Completely unpretentious, totally fearless and shockingly good. Listen at www.myspace.com/partyweirdo StoatStoat is a 3-piece oddball indie-pop band from Leinster, comprising Cormac Parle on bass, piano and vocals, Stephen Whelan on drums and John Hearne on guitar and vocals. Veterans of the Dublin underground scene, the band's two songwriters have been writing together for 18 years and have evolved a highly distinctive sound incorporating nursery rhymes, angular post-punk, Russian folk music and classic pop melodies, with lyrics reminiscent of Myles Na Gopaleen. They have a reputation for hugely entertaining live shows, involving theatrical mayhem, high jinks and audience participation. The band's debut album, Future Come and Get Me, was recorded in Westland Studios in Dublin and mixed in Crystal Sound, Helsinki. It contains 12 tracks from throughout the band's existence – sea shanties jostling for elbow room with dark-chocolate pop songs and weirdcore punk rock, all filtered through Stoat's unique musical sensibilities and is available at http://www.stoatmusic.com and at selected record shops. Listen at www.myspace.com/stoatmusic What they say Album: Future Come and Get Me (2005) "very cleverly crafted … really really catchy off kilter indie rock" Road Records "the best Irish album released in 2005" cluas.com Live "original melodies ... ingenious changes ... the people beside me sang along with almost every song, grinning from ear to ear" ThingsYou'reMissing zine "the most fun you can have in a Dublin venue" cluas.com Many Thanks, Maximum Joy Team www.myspace.com/maximumjoyclub Future Maximum Joy events: 20th October - Steeple Remove (Third Side Records // France) & Halfset 3rd November - Donal Dineen & Guests 17th November - I Love UFO (Record Makers // France) & Crayonsmith & DJ Mooner (Compost // Munich) 1st Dec - Mock n' Toof (DFA // Tiny Sticks) & Guests 15th December - XMAS Party w/very special guests
