“We be to rap what key be to lock” - Digable Planets Kerrynini are smiling to present The return of...... WHITENOISE (Irelands numero uno human beatbox) & DJ FONETIK + KERRYNINI Djs Visuals by Kev The Young Legend. Where? Kirby's Brogue (Sidebar), Rock St, Tralee. When? Friday 25th Of August What Time? 10pm until 2.30am How Much? Zilch Eh yo! Super fat dose of hiphop goodness being served up to you the punter this month, as we all try to get over the lovely girls competition that is being held earlier the same week in good old Tralee. We're thrilled to see the return of Irish beatbox supreme being WhiteNoise, who was one of our first and most entertaining guests at Kerrynini this year. The first time he played, the bar staff complained at the amount of jaws they had to sweep up off the floor at the end of the night, he made that much of an impact. Most people will remember this chap as the guy who makes the music with his mouth, just like Jones from Police Academy – only better, and he's not a cop. Using only his mouth, he creates beats, rhythms and DJ routines. He draws influence from all styles of music, but mainly centers around making hiphop / drum'n'bass beats. He's supported the likes of Rahzel & Scratch from The Roots, made several TV appearances and has performed all over Ireland and the UK. Seriously eye-opening stuff, dont miss it. Check his myspace from proof... www.myspace.com/mouthdrummer Also joining Whitenoise on the night will be rising star, DJ Fonetik from Dublin. Also trading under the title of Handsome Paddy, he has rapidly gained a reputation as one of Ireland's most versatile hiphop djs, both as a battle dj, scratcher and all-round crowd rocker. He won the Cork Battle Of The Djs hiphop category this year, and has recently be seen playing support to Ugly Duckling, Giant Panda, Wajeed, and the Butch Cassidy Soundsystem as part of the massively successful Choice Cuts events in Dublin. Switching it up from funk to hiphop to soul to reggae, Paddy is a master of the quick mix so don't expect to hear more than 90 seconds on any track he mixes in. He's just back from a holiday/record buying adventure in New York so expect him to be banging out some of the recent gems he unearthed from that little voyage. Check the link below to download his super sweet “If You Hear Any Noise” mix for free, tasty stuff. www.megaupload.com/?d=K8RWPSGF Don't forget that the Bloom In Tralee festival kicks off in Tralee (no s**t!) on Friday 18th downtown in the Square at 8pm. Running until 12 am for 5 nights, the festival hosts over 20 of Ireland's best alternative live bands playing for free outdoors, along with a festival club hosting djs in the Imperial hotel and workshops in music promotion, dj-ing, graffiti and label development to name a few. Acts included on the bill are The Redneck Manifesto, Ten Past Seven, The Chalets, Cartoon plus oodles more. The whole festival is brought to you by Clubheadbangbang, Kerrynini, Out On A Limb Records and Live @ The Rose. Check out the links below for more info about the event, its shaping up to be some frigging week. www.bloomintralee.com www.myspace.com/ilovebloom Its a reggae special next month, thats all I'm saying for now. Gonna be fun, fun, fun.
