Foggy Notions presents... The Russian Futurists & special guests: Jape DJ Kool Drool Whelan's (Wexford Street, Dublin) Thursday August 10, 8pm Tix 13 euro (plus booking fee): WAV Tickets (1890 200 078), City Discs & Road Records. "Our Thickness is so stunning that it makes the Postal Service look like half-hearted dilettantes" -SPIN "Our Thickness is an exhuberantly echoing starburst of lo-fi twee-pop gone grand, an opulent boudoir popera for the Taj Mahal" -PITCHFORKMEDIA "The Method Of Modern Love is one of the most melodically seductive and exhilarating records of recent times" -UNCUT "I do pop because that's what my heart goes..." Toronto's Matthew Adam Hart has been making magic out of nothing since 2001. From behind an escalating heap of junk plastic keyboards he has conjured some of the most beautiful pop records of the last five years including 2003's Let's Get Ready to Crumble and last year's Our Thickness. Matt Hart marries sharp hip-hop production with big glassy-eyed pop melancholia. He is now bringing his genius songs to Europe via the Memphis Industries label with a starter-pack compilation entitled Me, Myself & Rye. Matt will be playing live with a full band. The Russian Futurists are big favourites of Foggy Notions, and featured on Kool Drool's Foggy Fairytales Vol. 1 compilation in May. Kool Drool herself will be on hand to keep you dancing into the early hours, and the wonderful Jape will be doing the warm-up honours. Gig of the year, we reckon - until our next gig! www.russianfuturists.com
