COME TO BED WITH US...
Bed 01 @ Kennedys, Thursday 27 July, Electro-rock bands and DJs
Bed is a new bi-monthly club night at the Underground at Kennedys, Westland Row (off Nassau St, Dublin city) fusing the physical, earthy energy of live bands with the transcendent euphoria of a DJ set, all to the white-hot soundtrack of electro-rock - the sound of the decade. Bed will be the meeting place for rock's seductive stomp and dance's elevating energy, all under the one duvet.
Bed grabs the baton from underground visionaries Erol Alkan (T.R.A.S.H. @ The End, London the birthplace of the electro-rock scene) and Mark Moore (Electrogogo, Soho) to create a unique club experience in the capital. Its not just a gig its not just a club night. Its Bed.
If you snuggle up under the covers with us we promise:
* No more random bands on thrown together line-ups
* No more listening to the sound engineer's favourite CD before and after the band
* No more rapid changes in musical genres from live rock bands to homogenous dance DJs
* No more uptight scenesters playing obscure album tracks to an empty dancefloor
Instead... Bed will bring you:
A hi-grade neutron rock voltage current running all night long, switching from band to DJ set to band to create a seamless and deep electro-rock meltdown that wont let up on the pleasure gauges for an instant.
Bed 01: Aleko - Mendoza - Subzero - Bed DJs
Prepare to get your groove on to three of Dublin's finest purveyors of electro rock and synth pop with resident Bed DJs spinning the finest in electronic rock, 80s electrogothandpop and nu-wave dance til the wee hours.
Aleko - One of the most invigorating live and sonically innovative bands in the capital, Aleko fuse pounding guitars and bass with scattergun drum machine rhythms and pulsating synth grooves. They already have many prestigious international support slots to their name; having joined Asian Dub Foundations European tour, played with the Australian Cut Copy, The Filthy Dukes, s**t Robot and our hero Erol Alkan, as well as Scottish dynamos, Optimo DJs. They plan to storm Hifi Ireland on August 5.

Mendoza - Explosive, intense live sets that regularly culminate in wrecked guitars and bloodied band members have earned Mendoza a reputation for being one of Dublins most exhilarating new live acts. Local, national and international gigs (including upcoming Paris and London dates) havent stopped them from putting the finishing touches to their debut, self-produced E.P., to be released shortly.

Subzero - Sharing a stage with The Prodigys Keith Flint set the bar for Subzero mouthpiece Paula Gilmers energetic live presence. The 3-piece pitch her breathless vocals over an uplifting glam pop stomp, laced with catchy guitar and synth hooks. Their Paul Murphy-produced Three Songs E.P. has 'much to impress' (Hot Press) and their ability to deliver it in style has been honed on the Dublin rock circuit and at festivals such as Hard Working Class Heroes and the RDSs New Irish Music Showcase.
