Mitchelstown Music & Arts Festival present Indie-pendence, Ireland’s newest free music festival, which takes place in the New Square, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork on Saturday August 5th and Sunday August 6th.
Legendary Scottish band The Proclaimers return to Ireland to headline the Indie-pendence stage in New Square on Saturday August 5th supported by acclaimed Irish singer songwriter Roesy and folk rocksters The Iron Jelloids.
Sunday’s musical extravaganza comes in two parts – the 2pm show features reformed Cork legends The Sultans of Ping, supported by one of Ireland’s most hotly tipped bands, the electro-indie funksters Hybrasil. In line with the festivals promise to provide a platform for emerging Irish artists, all girl punk band Fair Verona, Cork indie outfit Eve of Mind and Mitchelstown’s own rock gods The Vital Spark will open the daytime show. At 8pm on Sunday August 6th, Corks finest sons The Frank and Walters headline Indie-pendence, with support from indie rock glamour pusses The Chalets and National Student Music Award winners Lotus Lullaby. There will also be a host of fringe events including art exhibitions, street theatre, activity areas and pub gigs.
With over 40,000 people expected in Mitchelstown over the August bank holiday weekend and a new fresh music loving crew in the driving seat, Indie-pendence is set to become a stand out fixture on the burgeoning Irish summer music calendar.
