HOTPRESS has teamed up with the good people at Castle Palooza to offer an unsigned band the chance to play at Ireland’s best new festival! Castle Palooza promises to be this year’s most sumptuous festival, taking place in Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly on August 5th and 6th. To be in with a chance of playing at the festival - joining Republic of Loose and The Blizzards in the line-up - bands must send a demo CD of one song to: ‘Your Band at Palooza’, HOTPRESS, 13 Trinity Street, Dublin 2. For full details on this competition, check out the current issue of HOTPRESS. Competition closing date: Monday, July 17th The Castle Palooza festival line-up includes top Irish acts such as Delorentos, 8 Ball, Republic of Loose, The Blizzards, Saucy Monkey, Dara, Bray Vista and Neosupervital. www.castlepalooza.com

Was at the Life Festival there last month. Great spot for a weekend of music and madness. There was supposed to be another event happening the following week though but there was issues with licencing or something and it had to be relocated. Lovely place though!

All atrocious Irish acts, with the exception of Neosupervital. The Chapters are not bad either. What are the brilliant Ten Past Seven doing there? And they're at the bottom of the bill. I'm all for festivals for Irish bands but this just misses the mark totally and this 'competition' just seems like a lame attempt at publicity.

Too many ppl putting festivals together, seemingly just for the sake of putting a 'festival' together. Feeding off Elec Pics success. Not enough high standard Irish bands to make any one festival fantastic either. Well, there are. They are just overlooked. Neosupervital is getting old now. That Rachels song is bland, and I've seen him 3 times, and he's like a comedian now. Same old routine. Granted I saw him 3 times in like 2 weeks so maybe its cos of that. I'm also just bitter that I can't make Elec Pic this year. Only other Irish festival, I really like going to is HWCH. Doesn't matter that they choose some awful bands to play. They also choose great bands, and there's a deadly atmosphere around the whole thing. Cannae wait for it.
