Psycho Fest #2 Dublin - 24th June 2006 – Voodoo Lounge For Immediate Release Having climbed from the putrid swamp waters of the river Liffey, Dublin’s finest rock’n’roll bands come together for a night of sex, drugs and monster mayhem. Masters of the ceremony, Dublin’s terror-merchants The Things, launch their new single ‘Some Kind of Kick’ at the event and are calling upon the city’s misfits to join them for the second Psycho Fest to ever take place. This will be a night you will never forget…blood-lusting virgins and werewolf-loving daddies will witness over 12 of the most gruesome acts to roam a stage together in one night. Admission is a mere €15 and there will be 100 free CDs with a track from each of the bands for those that get there early. The Things The Things have become notorious in their homeland for their high-octane shows and have touted their sleazy garage rock ‘n’ roll across the globe, including an appearance at the SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas. They’ve played with The Warlocks, The Hives, The Fall, Peaches, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Arctic Monkeys and Baby Shambles among others. The frenzied live antics of deviant front man Neilo Thing set this band apart from any other. These misfits want your bones! They release their new single ‘Some Kind of Kick’ on the 23rd June 2006, available to buy at Psycho Fest 2006. www.thethingsireland.moonfruit.com www.myspace.com/thethings Humanzi Humanzi join the ritual as high priests of hedonistic new-wave and punk. Having recently won the Best Newcomer award at Ireland’s Meteor Awards, they release their latest single ‘Diet Pills & Magazines’ on July 3, followed by their highly anticipated debut album, ‘Tremors’ on July 10 via Fiction/SFR. Humanzi support the Strokes for a second time in London’s Hyde Park on the 21st June prior to this night’s revelry, as well as Oxegen 8th July, T In The Park 9th July, Leeds Festival 25th August and Reading Festival 27th August, so catch them while you can. www.humanzi.com www.myspace.com/humanzi Metro Riots Heavy retro, life-enhancing, maximum energy rock that is blacker than the Sabbath, flashier than the Clash, out-swims the Strokes and out-shouts a Primal Scream. Influenced by the likes of Leadbelly, Blind Willie McTell, The Stooges, and New York Dolls, Metro Riots released an EP ‘And Now the Tyrants are Loose’ in November 2004 on Genepool Records. New single ‘When You're Gone’ is released 17 July 2006 on Eleven78 Records. www.myspace.com/metroriots www.metroriots.com/ Mainline Alongside rocking gigs with Sonic Youth, the Morning After Girls and Primal Scream, Mainline’s now sold-out, 7” single ‘Black Honey’ was released on Loog Records in 2005, as well as the fantastic WHO MADE Who remix which took dancefloors by storm. If the nights proceedings weren’t dark enough, expect Mainline to make it just that bit darker. www.mainline.moonfruit.com/ www.myspace.com/mainline Stagger Lee Stagger Lee bring their distinctive tincture of rock’n’roll noir and twisted feral blues in the spirit of Robert Johnson’s devil-at-the-cross roads and Mavis Staples sultry gospel cry. They’ve supported the Kills, the Duke Spirit and the John Spencer Blues Explosion to name a few and have recently recorded with renowned producer Leo Pearson. www.staggerlee.moonfruit.com/ www.myspace.com/staggerleeband The Mighty Stef The Murphy fella with the vocal chords of a young Johnny Cash, brings his wayward band of rowdy men and their raucous live show to Psycho Fest #2. The Mighty Stef spent early 2006 recording his debut album in Toronto, following the release of his debut single 'Prayer for the broken hearted / Liars' in June 2005. www.themightystef.com/ www.myspace.com/themightystefband Porn Trauma Their infectious debut EP 'Sunrise' reached number 21 in the Irish Charts in June 2005. Their energetic live show is fuelled with blues and country influenced rock and they’ve supported Ian Brown, Babyshambles, and The Coral. Porn Trauma release their new 7" single ‘Casanova Blues’ on June 29th. www.myspace.com/porntrauma Zealots Well versed in the canon of blues, new wave and insurgence, the band have gathered an immediate following from their untameable live performances. With bad hangovers come the fear of god, and a sideward glance towards oblivion. Bringing maximum R & B into the 21st century, Zealots are never to be missed www.myspace.com/zealotsmusic Sickboy Influenced by The Clash , The Stooges, Primal Scream, Joy Division, and The Smiths, Sickboy are a four piece with a passion for music, drink, drugs, smokes, women and avoiding the rat race at all costs. Supports have included The Bravery, The Coral and The Paddingtons. www.myspace.com/sickboyofficial The Motorsounds Formerly known as The Blues Experimentation Society, The Motorsounds is now Andy McGibbon and whatever drummer he can get his hands on, creating a two piece punk-blues monster. The BXS supported The Soledad Brothers, The Immortal Lee County Killers and Mudlow, among others. Andy is currently preparing a full length album. www.motor-sounds.co.uk www.myspace.com/themotorsounds The Childish Thoughts Northern Ireland’s favourite sons of garage, The Childish Thoughts, are the self-styled Kings of Frug Rock. To see this band live is quite an experience. They count the Reverend Beatman among their fans. Band on an Island Hailing from Newbridge, Band on an Island can lull you into a warm sense of security with their stark, folk-tinged balladry, then rip your face off with their red-raw punk rock tunes. They put blood, sweat, heart and soul into every tune. www.bandonanisland.com www.myspace.com/bandonanisland The Leather Girls will round up the night by spinning some discs and adding some much needed glamour to vamp up proceedings. They’ve played with Marc Almond so don’t piss them off – they have whips you know! www.leathergirls.net http://www.myspace.com/leathergirls

Just off the phone to my secretary, Schedule is now cleared. Is any media noification being done for this ? I remember one of the gripes about PF1, was the lack of exposure it got, outside of word of mouth & Cluas, that is.

Yeah it's tix at the door and free cd with cd-sampler for the first 100 in. We've contacted all the mags, papers, websites, radio stations we could in trying to get peeps to promote it, preview it, review the gig and to review the cd. There's a comp in this month's Connected magazine for free tickets for those interested. One Cluas writer has already agreed to review the second half of the night (12 bands is alot for 1 person to cover!) and a second was due to do the first half but can't now - so if another Cluas writer fancies covering the first half of the night then there's a pass going for them - ye can email me to discuss further. The cd will also be reviewed on Cluas too. Connected will hopefully be featuring some interviews with the bands in the following issue too. Any other journos/radio kids that would like to get involved please get in touch. As usual, Hotpiss has shown itself to have it's finger firmly on the pulse of a dead cow and shown no interest. Hope to see all the Cluas folk down there for a night of fun and frolicssssss!

sounds awesome, but shall be at Sonar, so will miss the whole damn thing. Darn! That's basically who's who of every Irish band I'm into right now :( I shall be their in spirit. Namely, vodka.
