MARDI GRAS IRISH TOUR 2006 June 4th Galway – The Cellar (support act: Agiven) June 5th Dublin – Whelans - (support act:Tko) June 7th Kilkenny – Ryan’s June 8th Mullingar – The Stables June 9Th Limerick – Trinity Rooms (support act: Siobhan O'Brien) Mardi Gras hails from Rome, they stole their name from the latest Creedence Clearwater Revival, "Mardi gras " was their last studio effort. Six was a former theatre actress, while Fabrizio played in different local line ups. Being in love with Ireland and being regular visitors and in touch with the Dublin scene their first demo "The moon ep" was an irish -only release. The Irish magazine "Hot Press" reviewed it in the "Demo Dip" section hosted by Debbie Shkow. Their first release "Ballads" - a three tracks ep- was released on Mardi Gras Day 2001. In May 2001 the Drop the Debt Campaign invited Mardi Gras in the tv programme L' Elmo di Scipio (Rai 3). They were filmed while performing an acoustic live set. The duo is also interviewed about the Drop the Debt international movement and their involvement in the campaign. "Ballads" is well received by public and by the musical press. After a bunch of live gigs all over the country and their involvment with Amnesty International, who invited the duo to perform their new song "the wait" during a conference about America and the death penalty, from January 2004 "Ballads" is even available in Dublin (Road Records and Freebird Records); For the gig in Rome on June 9th 2004 Mardi Gras add a rhythm section to their line up :Davide Iacoangeli on double bass and Alessandro Fiori on drums; April 2005: Mardi Gras was chosen as support act for the Frames italian tour (Roma and Reggio Emilia). "drops made" is Mardi Gras second cd, six new songs penned by Six and Fabrizio, plus an alternate version of "Conversation". In 2006 they tour Italy, and play support for such acts as Circulus (UK), TKO (Dublin) before headin for an Irish Tour on June 2006 with 5 gigs. "Mardi Gras are doing some interesting things, and seem to have the work ethic any band needs to succed. They dont mention any specific Irish dates, but from the sound of this demo they would be worth the bus fare into town - if not quite the plane fare to Rome." Debbie Shkow Hot Press Dublin rewieving their first demo “The moon ep”. “Mardi Gras hails from Roma, Italy and their amazing blend of folk, acoustic sounds, country, the insightful lyrics and Six unique vocals, natural heir of singer like janis joplin, grace slick and edie brickell, makes "drops made" an unpolished gem” Cdbaby.com Straightforward, beautiful melodies which, together with the geometry of double bass-guitars-drums, recall Edie Brickell’s enchanting circular mid-tempos (Untitled), the acoustic Dave Matthews at the dawn of his career (Conversation) or the sad solemnity of Gram Parsons revisited by Sodastream Sentireascoltare.com Further infos and mp3: http://www.mardigrasmusic.it http://www.myspace.com/mardigrasmusic
