BUD RISING IN ASSOCATION WITH PSYCHOTIC REACTION PRESENTS…. THE LONG BLONDES W/ SUPPORT STAGGER LEE & The Things DJ Set CRAWDADDY SAT APRIL 15TH 2006 DOORS 11PM (ish!) ADM 10euro
PS. This is NOT sold out!!! It was on sale through ticket master but was removed and made a pay on the door night. Get there early as it promises to be a busy one! Bios THE LONG BLONDES The Long Blondes came together through a series of chance encounters. Kate (lips), Dorian (licks), Reenie (hips), Screech (sticks) and Emma (high kicks) bumped into each other at public library counters, charity shop sale rails and the dancefloors of DIY club nights. It was deliciously inevitable that this lot would get together and form a band. The Long Blondes are the part of the next chapter of Sheffield’s idiosyncratic musical heritage: the suburban disco fantasies of the Human League, the opulent ridiculousness of ABC, the seedy glamour of Pulp. STAGGER LEE Stagger Lee write songs about rope burn, obsession, betrayal and decoy emotions, embodying the spirit of Robert Johnson’s Devil-at-the-crossroads and Mavis Staples sultry gospel cry, combining trashy blues, new wave and out n out rock n roll. Recent support slots have seen shows alongside US girl alt-punk outfit Sleater Kinney in the Temple Bar Music Centre, as well as The Duke Spirit, Jon Spencer Blues Xplosion and The Kills in 2005. After recruiting brand new shiny members Stagger Lee have been lock away for a while, creating a darker, smokier sound and are now ready to bring their distinctive brand of feral blues and Rock’n’Roll noir to you all louder, dirtier and sleazier than ever. . Good luck. Won't be there as we have our own gig. Hmmm, how do we get nice support slots like that?

Comment noted (briefly, then discarded), but I do believe it has as much to do with connections, no?

Don't be bitter Matlock - We were asked to play the gig by people we have played for before. Simple as. Are you in the habit of turning down decent gigs or are you too busy being cynical?

Well, admittedly most of my spare time is devoted to cynicism... I don't want to create the impression that I'm bitter, and I don't begrudge you good gigs. Just curious is all.
