About Pro Forma
http://www.myspace.com/proforma & http://www.pro-forma.co.uk/
"Once upon a time in the near-mythical town of Glasgow, Scotland Paul, Simon, and Victoria formed Pro Forma. They created a tense, dark dance punk sound (or "council house" as they called it) somewhere between Adult., Patrick Cowley and Joy Division. In the summer of 2002 they released a 4 track 12" for the OSCarr label (run by the people behind the infamous Glasgow club night Optimo). At the end of that year Paul decided to leave and play drums (multi-talented, ain’t he?) for a band called Franz Ferdinand (quite sensibly, as history would prove). This release compiles the recordings made by this incarnation of the group: the afore-mentioned 12", one track from a compilation, and a video. It’s a history of Pro Forma, if you will.
These days, Pro Forma have a live drummer and a new guitarist, thanks to Robert and Colin (formerly of legendary Glasgow bands Life Without Buildings and Eska, respectively). The revamped Pro Forma will soon be blowing socks off feet with a different (if logically progressed) sound. But in order to be ready for that, understand where they came from." Post Everything
"Paul Thomson of Franz Ferdinand's alma mater return with a single on his new label. Lapses In Diction is a strict number with an insistent throb of a bassline that pulses like a flashing blue light espied in the rear view on a lonely night-time drive." - Playlouder
"This tasty 7" from Glasgow/Brooklyn punk disco quartet Pro Forma is dancefloor fodder of the finest variety. If you dig Talking Heads or LCD Soundsystem you'll love this." - Dazed & Confused
"Ok, so when they cite influences such as Fela Kuti, New Order, Brian Eno, Arthur Russell, old Chicago House, new Micro House, Pere ubu, Talking Heads, Black Dice, Scott Walker, Joy Division, Josef K, Prince, Giorgio Moroder, Kraftwerk, Adult. and The Homosexuals it seems a bit pointless telling you that their new single (out February 2006) was recorded by Paul Epworth, mixed by Franz Ferdinand and out to buy on Paul Thomson's 'NEW!' label.
There, I said it." - Liars Club

Review:
"In sparse syncopated rhythms, bass heavy throb and synthesised mouldings, in the brash declamatory vocal, and anxious delivery they recall the spirit of 1978-1983. This is not the raw sound of punk, it's more dispassionate. The spark of something more literate and experimental. If you can jump the needle of your musical memory and drop it on the shellacked spirals of post punk, you'll decipher Cap Pas Cap as you choose."

"Hailing from Galway and Wicklow, this dynamic 3-piece got together just over a year ago. Since then they have been showcasing their eighties-tinged, electro-singed, rock-your-head-out tunes in various venues around the city. They are also recently returned from Berlin where thieir Kraut-influenced, electro-rock went down a treat at the Britspotting festival."
"The band are also currently working on a soundtrack to an Irish-made short sci-fi film"
