THE BOOMBOOMROOM, PARNELL ST. / SATURDAY MARCH 11TH 2006
DOORS 8.30PM / ADMISSION 7 EUROS
The Electric Fix #10 takes place in the BoomBoomRoom of Parnell St., on Saturday March 11th 2006. Performing at this event will be QUEEN KONG, supported by very special guests LAKKER, GROOM, SCHMACKEY AND THE SALADS and LPX (See details below).
There will be much in the way of random electronic noise, shouting and possibly mud-wrestling (rather unlikely though…).
QUEEN KONG
This three-piece synth pop band was formed with deconstruction on its mind. Pop fans are forced to confront insanely heavy guitars. Metal "people" experience vocal harmonies and actual songs, often for the first time in their lives. Kraftwerk with guitars? Ministry with vocoders? NIN meets Mike Patton? No. The real answer could be closer than you think: Queen Kong.
LAKKER are Dublin based musicians Eomac and Dara. They have been involved in electronic music for a number of years as the Undermine DJ's, Eomac, and as part of the four-piece Undermine. After the last gig with this band at DEAF 2003, they decided to write as a two-piece under the name Lakker.
Their music is a mash up of various different styles and influences - anything from Miles Davis to Mike Paradinas. The emphasis is on new exciting sounds and emotive electronic music.
In the past, they have played alongside Andrew Weatherall, Kid 606, Andrea Parker, and Decal, among others. They have played as Lakker at Repeater in Bodkins, Undercurrent at the Project Arts Centre, and did a live soundtrack to Ron Fricke's 'Baraka' at Neuromantek Sessions.
GROOM is an indie band from Dublin. "They are an electronica and roots outfit that throw everything but the kitchen sink into the mix in their highly experimental exercise."
OK, so here's the deal, SCHMACKEY AND THE SALADS are full of contortionist movements, jarring energy and a punk sound so raw feels like the Ramones never existed. Visceral stuff, expectations are high for these guys and if they're on form you never know...
LPX (formerly ‘lube: Project_X’) consists of just Leigh O'Gorman. He creates electronic and dub music and has been performing in the area of sound engineering, production, and computer music for approximately four years now. In 2005, Leigh created the Electric Fix - a collective of artists, musicians, and alternativist people and is gigging regularly (ish) now. When performing, he uses Reason 2.5, Cubase SX, and his brain.
Thank you.
In the coming weeks, also watch out for the Electric Fix #11 (March 29th – Radio City) with The Evil Harrison’s, Epoch Rising, and LPX and Wired003 at the Electric Fix (March 30th – MB Slattery’s, Rathmines) with John Dalton (Red Square), Electrodouche and Some Cars Are Faster Than Others.
