spooky action promotions presents FOUR AND TWENTY THE MALADIES PATRICK FREYNE AND HIS BAD INTENTIONS MIRIAM INGRAM (& Band) DERRICK DEVINE (& Band) 4 of the city's most intriguing acts. A transformed venue. A night of laid-back, intelligent music : original songs set alongside strange, dark nursery rhymes from ye olde times. TEMPLE BAR MUSIC CENTRE WEDNESDAY 2ND NOVEMBER DOORS 8PM ADMISSION: 7 EURO ------------------------------------------------------ THE MALADIES Since the formation of The Maladies in September 1999, this Dublin based band has persistently captivated Irish audiences. In September 2003 the band released their debut album ‘The Maladies’ through independent record label White Heat. Their recently released second album 'A Whole Bunch of Rivers' recorded with the esteemed producer Mudd Waliace (who has worked with legends such as Van Morrison, The Chieftains and Therapy?)received much praise for its eclectic sound - mixing elements of folk, funk, garage-pop, and...(whisper it)...jazz. 'The Maladies seem imbued with a self-assurance and a musical articulacy that most debut albums fail to deliver...it's refreshing to find a band at one's own doorstep that have found their voice, as well as a unique way to use it, with such impressive sleight of hand' - Tanya Sweeney, Hotpress 'Forget what else you've heard this year and give this band your full attention; they've just made one of the best Irish debuts in years. Eclectic, romantic, languid, electrifying, haunted' - Iris Magazine www.themaladies.net PATRICK FREYNE AND HIS BAD INTENTIONS A brilliant song-writer and his unique band of gifted musicians. Armed with guitars, cello and banjos, their sound is skewed alt. country/rock - a devilish mix of that of Freyne's other projects, NPB & El Diablo. MIRIAM INGRAM (& band) Miriam Ingram combines songs, singing and instrumental arrangements to create a colourful, melodic and challenging sound - sometimes gentle, sometimes noisy - always interesting. She has just finished mixing her debut album "Trampoline" with David Odlum, Joe Chester and Owen Drumm. It presents a culmination of work that has been recorded in Dublin, Kerry and France with a variety of musicians and engineers. It will be released in the very near future! The live line-up includes Bass, Celli, Trumpet, Lap-tops, Guitars, Keys, Drums and other vocals. Electronica and acoustic elements blend and beget something a little different! DERRICK DEVINE (& band) Influenced by the likes of Nick Cave, Elliott Smith and Calexico, Derrick Devine sings and plays songs on a bokkidy wooden guitar about love, devils, family, failure, drunkenness, death, trees and Vincent van Gogh. On the night, he will be performing with a full band.
