Ballroom of Romance #39 - a Ballroom special! The Immortal Lee Country Killers 3 The High Plane Drifters Holy Ghost Fathers MEDEA Thursday 28th of April €10 Free CD-r to the first 100. http://www.ballroomofromance.com The Immortal Lee County Killers 3 Its a great pleasure for us here at the Ballroom to put on a show for Alabama's finest: the ILCK3 . In 2003 we saw the them tear up the international bar and reduce it to raw rock'n'roll putty: ILCK3: Punk blues with enough psychadelia For William Faulkner's ghost to feel nervous around mirrors; the music of ILCK3 tastes like hot molasses spreading over a slice of Howlin' Wolf, with a side of Mc5/The Doors with an inspirational dash of John Coltrane (WWJCD?),a nd maybe for dessert-sundrops of pinball. ILCK3 has recently relocated to the new home of maximum R and B on the east bank of the Cumberland river in Nashville. Having released 2 records on Estrus records and recieved mention from every periodical from Punk Planet to Rolling Stone, ILCK3 is currently on work on a third record. "The music to bring down these tired old machines and give juice to the new power, the forgotten power, the power of the people." Thrasher Magazine "Most importantly there is a whole lot of soul among the hollerin' and preachin'" NME "Total destruction of the mind" Rolling Stone http://www.leecountykillers.com The High Plane Drifters The High Plane Drifters are a two-piece experimental psych / garage / blues outfit from Teesside who play their own self-written material. In the finest D.I.Y tradition 2004 saw T.H.P.D successfully complete two U.K tours and release their own self financed debut “Hot Property” E.P with Cargo distribution not to mention a weathehighplanedrifters.co.uk A dirth of high class support slots that included the likes of The Mooney Suzuki, Whirlwind Heat and The Soledad Brothers amongst others.T.H.P.D live sound continues through touring to gather strength, momentum and new fans and in doing so the band have earned exceptional live reviews where they have been described as … "World class music. A two-piece phenomenon with the power and energy of a full-scale orchestra. Garage band blues and Psychedelia with high wire firebrand extravert guitar and vocals anchored with power hammer drumming. Pterodactyl guitar cries and blazes of feedback with showers of cymbals. Hyper Robert Johnson fully plugged in. Top drawer Hendrix moves and guitar grooves." www.thehighplanedrifters.co.uk MP3 here… http://homepage.ntlworld.com/canis_...river_stole.mp3 Holy Ghost Fathers Holy Ghost Fathers are a rock band based in Dublin. They play songs with guitars, banjo and theremin. Over the years they have released and E.P. Angelus Bell’ (Single of the Issue by the Dublin Event Guide) and album “Cock of the Walk”. In 2002 they started the Ballroom of Romance club. The as yet untitled follow up album is due May '05. Some reviews for Cock of the Walk: “Bold, brash, messy, maudlin, angry, funny, entertaining, energetic and, in its own way, timeless. It swaggers along like a real rock album should” The Dublin Event Guide “An essential shot of vitriol” 4/5 *’s The Irish Times Ticket www.holyghostfathers.com MEDEA MEDEA are an all girl rock band based in Dublin. Recently singled out by Hotpress as an act ot watch in 2005, Medea play minimal guitar music that has been compared to Sleater Kinney and Joy Division.
