The Citadels Mini UK Acoustic Tour! The six-piece Jazz-pop band, fronted by Cormac O ’Caoimh, have been keeping themselves busy the past month or two writing, arranging and recording new material. The full band has been quiet on the gig front of late concentrating their talents in the practice room and studio, but Cormac has been popping up here and there doing solo slots. The past few weeks saw him share the stage with Freddie White, Paul Tiernan, Mick Hanley and Tir na nOg. “Letting Go Holding On”, the band’s first album, is still getting rave reviews and airplay. The most recent review ( www.whisperinandhollerin.co.uk ) of the cd began “Talk about blessed relief, hallelujah and praise be all in one merciful musical package” and went on to state that the band “too fresh and refreshing to be mere copyists tip their hat to the old guard but uncover in Cormac O'Caoimh a versatile song-writer who’s trying on a number of dandy pop overcoats, and getting them to fit nearly every time.” The Citadels’ expanding fan base contains many a notable name, including the great songsmith Ron Sexsmith. In an interview with The Belfast Telegraph (September 02 2004), Ron quoted The Citadels as being one of the Irish artists he admires. The band’s site is being visited by more and more people each week and many are availing of The Citadels’ mailing list offer, where cds are regularly been given away to visitors from varying locations. So far it’s the New Yorkers who have received the most free citadels cds. Visit www.thecitadels.net for more details. Two of the band (Cormac and Aoife Regan) are playing some acoustic dates in November and early December. You can catch them in London on Nov 21st ( The Old Dairy Red Room), Nov 23rd (The Acoustic Lounge) and November 25th (The Electro-Acoustic Club) and in Edinburgh on Dec 4th (The Caledonian Backpackers) and finally Dublin in the Hub December 17th (supporting Tir na nOg) visit http://www.thecitadels.net
