Maybe a bit early for this, but … DESERTED VILLAGE PRESENTS unique American folk singer, ROBERT BLAKE, back in Ireland again, playing THE BOOM BOOM ROOM (above Patrick Conway's, Parnell St, Dublin) along with Australiana poseurs, HOLT, on Sunday, Novmber 7. €7 on the door. Blake and Holt also play the illustrious Joe Lee's Bar in Tullamore on Saturday, Nov 6. Robert, the only man in the world who should ever be allowed on a stage alone with a guitar, is a unique performer and is the only solo singer to have got the crowd in the Ballroom of Romance to shut the f**k up of their own free will. He didn't even have to resort to physical or marital violence. Holt, meanwhile, are adding to their ever-expanding collection of slightly confused trumpeters. For more info see www.desertedvillage.com and www.sameroomrecords.com or email haroldholtmusic@yahoo.co.uk.

Do these new trumpeters have any particular talents besides playing their instrument? Can they walk a tightrope while they play? Jump through rings of fire? The last guy was a serious juggler so I'm thinking Holt could start some kind of mini-circus or something... Where's your top hat, Dave?

Whether there is juggling/jumping through rings of fire depends on which ones turn up. A bit of prodding with a pointy stick usually spurs them into action. Coincidentally: The frogginging word frog seems frogging well to have been frogging automatically frogging censored, by the frogging way. Oh ****. A frog by any other name is still a frog you bunch of frogging masterfroggers.

Of course I meant 'frogging', not 'frogginging', the precise implications of which, I am unsure. It's a bit like a rate of rate of change or something: d2x/dy2 and all that kind of mathematical nonsense. The the rate of increase of the verb-declension of an amphibiousness. I'll go lie down now.

And as we know from recent news reports, half the world's species of frogs are being threatened with extinction. Save a thought for Kermit. Save the Frogs !
