It's due to be the Dublin launch party of our first proper studio recording, title yet to be announced. Probably something pretty clever and funny the first time you read it and less and less so thereafter.

Who are Lucera?
Lucera are a Dublin based band playing rock/folk music using
acoustic rhythm and lead guitar, electric guitar and violin. Lucera was
formed around the summer of 2003 on the back of a chance meeting between
Darren a talented vocalist and guitar player and Tom, a bass player born to
traditional music. Over a few weeks the pair had started to come up with
some interesting tunes containing catchy strumming, melodic vocals and
soft violin playing.
Tom and Martin had previously played a lot of traditional music together
throughout the late nineties while studying together, and so it was only
natural for Martin to be asked to add his untapped talent, influence and
unprecedented style to what was all ready a nice mix of guitar rhythm
and bass.
From here Tom met Donal in a bar and discovered by accident that he was a
percussionist looking for a new band. On hearing some pre-recorded music,
Donal realised the potential and talent of the 3 and immediately responded by
adding some solid beats to what was an already tight knitted operation.
On their first jamming session that October, the four were each immediately
excited and aware of the potential to create some great music.
Lucera draw from many different sources to create their sound. Described by
audiences as a loose mix between electric rock and folk/roots music, Lucera's
most distinctive features are a unique lead singer, an acoustic/electric
sound and a commitment to serve the song above all.
Music
The songs are about love, hate and the world today. The underlying feature
being a generally upbeat mood, with each member exploring their role
primarily to serve the song best. Darren and Martin are the main songwriters
at present while Tom and Donal are beginning to introduce themselves as
talented composers.
Lucera have two simple ideas about music. One: that music must be honest,
and two: that the song is more important than any one instrument or secondary aim.
Lucera can be found playing in the usual haunts for in Dublin
city: Dorans, Whealans, Mother Red Caps, Slattery's, plus a few private
parties for friends around the country.
Live, there is a notable sense of camaraderie within the group, which can be
put down to well matched personalities and similar musical aims.
Lucera are currently recording a 10 track CD which they plan to release in
October. These will be available to buy at gigs or on request via email.
