HOLT, MAERSK, WEAPONS OF MASS DESRUCTION – Eamon Doran’s, Temple Bar – Wed 4th Aug, 5 euro
After a summer spent lazing about scratching themselves, Hiberno-Australiana sextet/septet, Holt, play Eamon Doran’s in Temple Bar on August 4.
So if you can beat (and I do mean beat) your way through the Wednesday-night gaggles of English hen and stag parties as they glide on a sea of kebab-and-blue-Wkd-flavoured chunder towards renal oblivion, do come along and jeer at Holt.
Support comes from WMD - who recently failed to show up for several dates on their tour of the Middle East – and Maersk, who are known to be transporting illegal immigrants from Northern Ireland.
Maersk make WMD sound like a Metallica cover band, while WMD make Maersk look like they just had their lunch money stolen by bigger boys.
Holt, meanwhile, will drip-feed their luscious blend of maudlin poetry and last-post trumpets to an audience who don't deserve it.
