NOW IT’S OVERHEAD Plus special guests to be announced Irish Tour, August ‘04   Sunday, August 15th, 2004 Whelans, DUBLIN Monday, August 16th An Cruisin Lán, CORK   Now it’s Overhead’s new single ‘Wait in a Line’ (from their second album, ‘Fall Back Open’) is out at the end of July. The b-sides include their cover of The Magnetic Fields’ ‘The Book of Love’, and The Faint’s remix of ‘Wait in a Line’.   ‘Fall Back Open’ was released in March of this year and features the additional talents of the band are augmented by guest vocals from Michael Stipe and Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes).   When front-man Andy LeMaster isn’t crafting the dark, melodic pop of Now It’s Overhead, he’s touring and recording with Bright Eyes, working at his studio in Athens with bands like Azure Ray and REM, or finding the occasional hour or two to sleep.   Athens, Georgia's Now It’s Overhead mix moody pop influences such as the Cure and Depeche Mode and the layered textures of bands like Spiritualized and My Bloody Valentine into lovelorn indie rock. Now It’s Overhead was born in Athens, Georgia. Sometime in the late nineties. Sometime in the middle of the night. Andy LeMaster spent two years of dark downtime at his studio Chase Park Transduction (which he runs with ex-Sugar bassist David Barbe and The Glands’ Andy Baker ) creating a sketchbook of songs that became the first ‘Now It’s Overhead’ record.   To complete his sketches, Andy called on the help of drummer Clay Leverett and Azure Ray’s Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor. The studio project became a full-time band. Tours, record sales, photo shoots, interviews, and the like immediately followed. ’Fall Back Open’ marks another two years of sleepless nights and the next step down the path to NIO glory.   At once celebratory, frustrated, and heartbreaking, the music of ‘Fall Back Open’ is diverse without being stylistically inconsistent.   From dark, beat-driven sensuality to bright, country-tinged melodies, the band’s epic tones and distinctive vocals provide threads of unity that run throughout.   Don’t miss Now It’s Overhead live in Ireland in August.   Tickets for Now It’s Overheard at Whelans are !=12 (inc.booking fee) and are on sale from Road Records, Soundcellar, and usual outlets. Tickets for An Cruscin Lán show are available from the venue.   www.nowitsoverhead.com
