Club & Alpha Relish presents: Pro Forma Somadrone Richard Egan PRO FORMA --------- Simon Henderson - synths, guitar, vocals Victoria Henderson - bass, vocals Paul Thomson - vocals, synths, guitar Brief history: Having trawled the depths of the various different intensities of guitar based rock and flirted with electronics to some degree, we felt constrained by what had become a formulaic way of writing music. Pro Forma allows us to combine all of our influences. Taking to the computer as a source of composition with little initial understanding (or care) for the limits/tried and tested means of producing computer based music. Much like the late 70s post punk explosion where bands like The Slits/Pop Group et al embraced the sound of reggae, funk and disco and melded it to punk rock sensibilites to produce something completely new. A little over a year from our first gig (supporting Le Tigre) the music is more focused / honed, the live show more intense. Salient points: Members all hacket old scene whores... Simon has been promoting in glasgow for years, formerly played in the ill fated line up of the Lapse in august 2000 and Hernandez who played alongside the likes of Fugazi and such..., Victoria was involved in Ladyfest Scotland 2001 and used to play in Glasgow riot grrl band Sourtooth, paul played in the Yummy Fur and broke lots of bones playing alongside Simon in the Lapse. Musically we draw influence from places as random as The Normal / early Human League / Black Flag / Devo / Adult. / Divine / Patrick Cowley / Fela Kuti / Joy Division / King Tubby / John Carpenter / Brian Eno / Bikini Kill / Giorgio Moroder / Chicks On Speed / Peaches / Miss Kittin And The Hacker etc...
