United Bible Studies / Northstation / Embers
Following a spate of gigs, cd and fanzine releases last year, Chinese
Firedrill return to their promotional duties with ASCENT, an evening of lush untempered beauty.
*United Bible Studies
Having developed a substantial following playing around Galway, agitated radio pilot convenes the collective United Bible Studies, for a debut Dublin performance. Rooted in folk and improv, UBS operate on the tattered margins of each discipline.
*Embers
Embers are a four piece Dublin post rock band who provide a mid atlantic link between the poles of Glasgow and Montreal. Fusing a musical dexterity with hardcore energy, Embers recently released their debut single on the compact risc label.
*Northstation
A debut outing for Steve Fanagan's instrumental Northstation project of cinematic scope and sonic exploration. Following the release of the album, on mango music featured in the recent 'din' exhibition in the art house, Temple Bar.
*Plus special guest compere; Cara Sutra, finalist in the alternative Miss Ireland contest.
All this plus free literature (courtesy of Icarus Magazine), visuals and a smattering of spoken word and as with previous firedrill evenings, some very special guests.
