Chris Morrin www.chrismorrin.com
Chris Morrin started playing guitar as a teenager and served his musical apprenticeship as front man of young rockers ‘The Wesleyz’ who scored a coveted Fanning Session and considerable radio airplay before parting in 2003.
Since going solo Chris has combined influences ranging from Americana to electronica in his debut offering, the recently released Mucky Kid EP. ISH magazine has already described it as 'an excellent opening to a musical career that shows much promise' a super selection of songs showcasing the work of a budding, versatile songwriter.
Úna Keane www.unakeane.com
A classically trained pianist with a penchant for alternative rock music, Úna Keane studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. Following time spent performing in Europe, Úna started to meld poetry to music and so her first songs were born. She writes of the obscure, the simple, the mundane and the imaginary and her songs deal with human interaction and the human condition. Úna builds on her formal background and adds layers of rock driven energy; she uses eloquent language but has the ability to communicate her message very simply.
HotPress described her music as "straddling many genres that blend into a style that conjure up memories of artists like Kate Bush and Carole King". An exciting newcomer to the Irish live scene, she has opened for Irish artists Glen Hansard (The Frames) and Mark Geary. Work is underway on her debut album, due for independent release later in 2004.
Brendan Keane
Brendan Keane has been involved in the music industry for a number of years during which time he has formed and played in a wide variety of bands He is an accomplished musician proficient in a number of guitar styles and a seasoned live performer who is equally comfortable at pub gigs in front of hundreds but who has also done the festival route playing to of tens of thousands.
Brendan has received a number of awards for his song lyrics including, most notably, an award from Hollywood screen legend, the late Bob Hope in Las Vegas, U.S.A.
A recent stint opening for rock legends Status Quo on their Irish Tour has provided more valuable exposure for the songs of this talented Wexfordman.
with special guest DON BAKER www.donbaker.com
Don Baker is a survivor. Desperate conditions during his 1950s childhood saw him hospitalised with TB at age 7 and then drift into petty crime as a child and young adult which brought him in and out of remand homes and prison until age 19. It could be said that hospital introduced Don Baker to the harmonica; prison to the guitar and inner-city Dublin tenement life to the blues.
A fine guitar player, Don learned blues guitar by listening to the great country blues players - Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Blake, Robert Johnson and Scrapper Blackwell.
Don has also built a wide reputation as a harmonica player. His harmonica (or harp) playing is influenced by blues players such as Sonny Boy Williamson and Sonny Terry. Mark Feltham (who has played with Oasis, Joe Cocker and Rory Gallagher) rates Don as the greatest acoustic harmonica player in the world.
One of Ireland’s most revered musicians, Don's life has been both poignant and fast paced. Jackie Hayden (Hot Press) documented Don's experiences in his bestselling 1999 biography "The Winner in Me" published by Marino Books / Mercier Press.
